Not only did Mark Cuban and Don Nelson find their big man in Erick Dampier, but Dirk Nowitzki did, as well. With Dampier locked in for the Dallas Mavericks, Nowitzki will be able to play a more comfortable position, power forward. </div>

I have my reservations about Dampier in the Mavericks style, don't think it will work at all.

I am very interested to see how Dampier actually goes next year. His two best seasons have come in contract years, which is always a worry.

Dampier doesn't need to have the season he had last year for Dallas to be successful, all he needs to do is rebound and play defense which shouldn't be too much to ask. Him playing for a contract may be true but he still had soild seasons between those non contract years and in that time played limited minutes. The only question mark is how Nellie uses him.

But with how much he's being paid he should be putting up at least those same numbers which he probably wont. The Mavericks should have paid Nash the money he was asking for. They would have been looking really good right now if they had. Dirk and Dampier...I have no idea how that's going to work out.

^^^^ How is that? We get Nash, and we keep the run n' gun style everyone loves to watch, but then what happened last year, 1st round exit. If we have Nash, we dont get Damp, so if I had to choose, I'd rather matchup in every position, than just a couple.

Yeh, and the real story may be Devin Harris! That dude is gonna be great!

Dampier must prove himself, but will never be as good as Nash. Based on
market value for big men that lead the league in rebounding, $7M per year
was a good deal. Especially compared to other signings in the offseason like
    Foyle or Okur.

By the way, my man D.J. Mbenga played a lot better than Dampier on Tuesday.
Did you see him swat that one shot out to mid-court?! He's the real deal!

Not solid enough to justify the contract, or make Nellie happy.

They gave him the big contract because they had no choice, they badly needed a center and paying him as much as they did had to be done for them to sort out a deal.
