Albeit as a backup.... I C&Ped this from an article I was reading: <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Noteworthy: The Dolphins are interested in bringing back unrestricted free-agent linebacker Morlon Greenwood.... A report on the NFL Network suggested Miami is likely to sign quarterback Gus Frerrotte, who played under offensive coordinator Scott Linehan in Minnesota. Frerrotte, 34, would fill a backup void.</div> I think Frerrote would be an excellent backup. Heck, if you guys draft a young QB to groom, he may beat out Feely for this year. I'm not saying he definately would, but I'm just not that familiar with Feelys skills. Frerrote has played well off the bench in the past. I don't know if he has reached a level where he could be successful as a starter. Some guys are late bloomers.
Saban has stated that Feeley will start, they will bring in a veteran backup and acquire a young QB to develop....this would seem to fit that statement....
Agreed, Frerrote would be an excellent addition. But if so, i would think AJ Feeley would have trouble keeping his starting position. Lets say Miami does poorly this year too, and they get the Number One or Number Two draft pick...they can draft Matt Leinart. And seeing how they are going to release Surtain, Freeman, Bowens, possibly Seau....they might just do pretty poorly.
Gus would be a great veteran backup. He is familar w/ the Linehan's system and would not be too costly.
Frerotte probably could start in this league! He was ripping teams up when Culpepper was hurt! NY could use him!
