If Shaq continues to take shots at the Laker Organization in the media, will he damage his relationship to the point where they decide not to retire his no. 34 jersey? What do you guys think?

26.9 PPG, 11.7 RPG, 3.0 APG, 2.4 BPG, (according to my calculations, correct anything if it's wrong) in 8 seasons, they should retire it.

Well...after reading Shaq's SI quotes about Kobe, I'd rather Brian Cook wear the number for the rest of his career.

But...they'll retire it no matter what.

if the lakers, the team he won 3 championships with and went to the finals four times dont retire his jersey, then who will? the magic, the team he spent 4 seasons with and went to the finals once, or the heat, the team he will play for no more than probably 4 or 5 years and maybe win 1 or 2 trophies. (5 years seems like a stretch) i take it if his jersey is going to be retired at all, its most logical place would be LA.

It's very likely that his number will be retired in the rafters when all is said and done. He had a great career in LA and was a huge reason the Lakers won 3 titles. However, you can't give him all the credit for those, as Kobe Bryant was a huge part, as was the phenomenal coaching job of Phil Jackson. But, yes, I believe he will likely be retired in the rafters of the Staples Center. Despite all this crap that has happened between him and the organization since last offseason, he still had a great career in LA and I think they'll show him their gratitudes towards him and retire his number.

That's funny..if they don't retire his number he'll be the greatest player to never have his # retired.

Unless someone huge comes to LA and takes Shaq's number, then the organization will most likely retire it.

Eventually they will, however I don't think they will do it as long as Kobe is their. If Kobe brings us championships, I don't think that people would be in any rush to do so. "The person who brought pure hate to the person that brought us the Gold again."

There is no question that they will retire Shaq's number. He is one of the best centers in the history of the game and he brought the Lakers 3 straight championships. I also agree though, that it will take some time for them to do it.

Absolutely, #34 belongs in the rafters.

Oh the Laker organization BETTER retire Shaq's number. He was once the team franchise and was the greatest player in the game and, to this day, is the most dominating player in the game.

They probably will. Trading Shaq was a sudden thing, the Lakers probably thought Shaq would retire there.

Without question the Lakers should retire Shaq's jersey, and if they don't then there is something wrong with the organization.
