Who would you say is going to be the best player in the coming season? These are my opinions: 1) Kevin Garnett- A great all-around player. In my opinion, the best player in the league. He'll take the Wolves far this year, maybe even to the NBA Finals. 2) Tim Duncan- This guy is in the race for his 3rd MVP in 4 years this season. He and his fundamental play will yet again carry the Spurs into the Western Conference Finals. The NBA Finals, though, are gonna be tough to reach now that Garnett and his team are ready for anything. 3) Shaquille O'Neal- Shaq's in the East now. That means only 2 games per year against The Big Ticket and The Big Fundamental. That's a relief for O'Neal, who'll definently take charge in the ever-changing East. The Nets, who were NBA Finals caliber last season, are now a lottery team. The Celtics and 76ers, who have been getting worse and worse since 2002, are not a big threat anymore. Toronto, yet again, won't make the playoffs. Air Canada will need to get more help to make his team a contender. Meanwhile, though, the Magic have risen up, getting the Franchise and Cuttino Mobley. They won't have the worst record this year. That honor will probably go to the Charlotte Bobcats. Orlando is a Eastern Conference Finals contender this year, and Shaq and Miami will have to get their cross-city rivals to reach their goal. They, of course, also will have to get through 2 other teams: the Indiana Pacers, an every powerful team with MVP candidate Jermaine O'Neal, defensive star Ron Artest, and sharpshooter Reggie Miller, and The Detroit Pistons, last year's champs and a defensive powerhouse. Look for Shaq to take over this team and, with help from last year's rookie star Dwayne Wade and Eddie Jones, who doesn't seem to be losing his 3-point touch, become one of the powerhouses of the East. 4) Kobe Bryant-No Shaq. No Phil Jackson. No Karl Malone. No Derek Fisher. No Gary Payton. This will be a very different year for Kobe, who is still one of the best players in the league. He has to make a decision this year: Either keep the ball to himself and try to be superman, or share the ball with his new teammates, including Lamar Odom and Caron Butler. Odom, who can shoot from the outside and also bang it up in the paint, can really help the dismantled Lakers if Kobe lets him shoot the ball. As for the young star Butler, his future developing depends on whether he'll be able to get the ball or not. A lot has changed for the Lakers, and they'll have to stay strong to have a chance at the West Finals. 5) Tracy McGrady-Getting traded to the Rockets must have been like a dream come true for T-Mac: he finally gets some help from a great big man(Yao Ming), something he hasn't had for a while. If they can work as a team, McGrady and Ming can become the next Kobe and Shaq. T-Mac is going to have a tough time adjusting to the West, but if he can manange to keep up his 30 ppg average, and at the same time pass the ball to Yao and the rest of the team, the Rockets will become the best team they have been since the Hakeem Olajuwon era.
You may think they are the top 5 players, but someone else might not. I DO, that's why I gave reasons to why each one will be a great player this year. I didn't just post names.
KG might be an repeat MVP, it just seems like every night when he's on the court he is the best one out there. There aren't that many people you can say that about. MJ, Wilt, Russel, and more. He will go down as one of the top 5 straight from high school players ever.

All of these 5 players i believe will have breakout years.
I agree with your top 5, but you're nuts if you think Orlando is a contender for the east this year. Crazy. They are improved from last year, for sure, but they are a young team with too many new pieces and a new coach. Orlando will be fighting for the last couple playoff spots. And while Philly and Boston aren't serious threats to take the east either, they will both be better than Orlando. They both have a much better mix of Vets and Young players with lots of potential.
If I am following what the post is wondering, I think the best player will be Kobe Bryant, as much as I hate him. Yes, Kevin Garnett is the MVP, but he has other scorers on the team. Kobe is all alone out in L.A. with the exception of maybe Odom. He will be granted all the shots he wants and will most likely lead the league in scoring. I think the best player in the NBA is Garnett, but who will have the best season, Kobe. Pure

Quote:

He will go down as one of the top 5 straight from high school players ever.
On of the top 5? As of now, I already believe that he is the second best player out of high school, behind Moses Malone. When he retires, he should very well be the best ever to come out of high school.
The best player for the regular season and playoffs will be Kevin Garnett. His team doesn't have a lot of depth, but he has the whole package and he's in his prime, as he can affect his teammates tremendously. Since Shaq is gone, that is probably the key to Garnett being the best in the playoffs while most likely winning the championship because he won't have to face the "Shaqful"-Lakers and most likely get eliminated again.

KG has gotten better every single year of his career, and there is no reason to think he won't this year. He will lead the T-Wolves to 60 wins, put up 25 15 6, and take home the MVP award.
my top 5 is: 1) KG 2)Tim duncan 3) KOBE 4) Lebron 5) Shaq Im moving lebron way up because if last year was just his rookie year, im expecting a lot more in his 2nd year which is just scary to think about! I also think Kobe will have a huge year no matter what any haters say...

There has only been around 5 good or better kids from HS and I actually think Kobe might be the number 1, but that's just my biased opinion.
The best overall players will of course be Duncan and KG.But Kobe will be having big nights every game he plays,he has a good chance at winning the scoring title, and he could be the best player in 05 since the Lakers are his now.
I would probably say: 1. Garnett The best all around player, can rebound in the inside take it back up, post someup and bank it. Has full range from 3 point to just a simple lay up. He is probably the best all around player in the NBA. He can do everything on the court. 2. Kobe Clutch, Playmaker. This guy gets in the game and he can make things happen. He can rebound the ball on the defensive end take it himself agaisnt 2 defender cut through them and score the points. He can make things happen. 2 seconds left he will score the basketball no problem. Give it to this kid when the game is on the line. You think clutch, you think Kobe. Also keep in mind Kobe is not in his prime and yet putting up numbers that would be considered great for any other superstars. To make it to play offs this year he needs to pass the ball and Utilize the players he has on the court with him, with a promising young cast of Mihm, Odom, and Butler who have all especially Mihm brought a new game to L.A. seen in the preseason. 3. Duncan Probably the most fundamentaly sound basketball player in the game today. He will never make a rookie mistake and probably has on of the best post ups in the NBA. Can make his signature bank shot everytime. He can also being a big man rebound and play good defensive. Smart good fundamental player. 4. Lebron Real last rookie to score his numbers where Micheal Jordan. After putting these numbers up last year you can expect something more from him this year and look for him to be putting up muiltiple triple doubles throught out the year. He has a good shot and the ability to drive and through the ball down with no problem. Expect big things out of him this year. 5. T-Mac T-Mac, Kobe qualities but hasn't had as many oppurtunities to show his talent. Yes he did hold the scoring title but so would have players like Kobe if Shaq was not in Los Angeles last year. Look this year for T-Mac To become more of a playmaker like Kobe is. Expect T-Mac's ppg to go down but his assists and rebounds to go up. You can expect nothing but greatness from this kid this year being on a team with a player that can score points and make plays too. Also I was having a hard time deciding between Shaq and T-Mac but i figured Shaq, 1-2 more season in NBA and T-Mac has about ten. Shaq is not in his prime anymore and can't go 40 minutes putting up 26 points, 12 rebounds, and 3 asssits with out gettign foul trouble. So really T-Mac got it cuz the fact he is young and can go the full game and put up his numbers without fouling out or not performing.
