<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">CLEVELAND - When the Cavaliers traded for Eric Snow, they knew they were getting more than just a point guard. They were also getting a consummate role player.

After some experimentation in training camp and the first four preseason games, it appears his ability to be both will be utilized.

Cavaliers coach Paul Silas hasn't made it official, but he appears ready to move Snow out of the starting lineup at shooting guard to insert Lucious Harris. It could happen as soon as Saturday's exhibition game against the Boston Celtics.

Harris, who is expected to return after missing Wednesday's game with a sore toe, seems to be fitting in with the first unit, while Snow has played his best when running the offense with the second unit. Snow is averaging 5.3 points, 3.5 assists and 2.0 steals in the preseason games with a 2-1 assist-to-turnover ratio.

He has been playing about the first six or seven minutes of the preseason games with the first unit and spending the rest of his time at backup point guard, so it isn't a major change in the team's philosophy. Without Harris in Wednesday's win over the Charlotte Bobcats, rookie Luke Jackson relieved Snow six minutes into the game and started the second half at shooting guard.

Sometimes moving a player out of a starting role can cause friction, which is where Snow's veteran leadership has started to show.

"You look at every team in this league, they have one or two star players and the rest of the team are role players," Snow said. "I've been a role player my whole career; you have to be willing to accept it."

The attitude is a relief to Silas, who knows upset players can disrupt chemistry. So far in the preseason, the coach has been pleased with the Cavaliers' togetherness, and it has shown on the court, with three wins in four games.

"There's only one basketball; somebody has to do some sacrificing to make it work," Silas said. "It's the blend of talent, not just talent itself. How do you keep everybody happy? It's hard and it can be a major problem."

Snow, who was acquired from the Philadelphia 76ers for Kevin Ollie and Kedrick Brown in July, has started 225 consecutive games. But he's also in his ninth year and under a satisfying contract that will pay him more than $30 million over the next five years. He's also now playing for his hometown team.

"I see it as making a move to make the team better," Snow said. "There's no other way to look at it."

    Baseball blues

Silas and LeBron James, both New York Yankees fans, were eating crow Thursday after they'd both issued guarantees of a Yankees victory over the Boston Red Sox in Game 7 of the American League Championship Series. Their only solace was to think of how happy it would've made former assistant coach and big Red Sox fan Mark Osowski, who passed away suddenly in August. "Somewhere Mark is smiling," Silas said.

Assistant coach Stephen Silas' team was still in business in the NLCS, though. He sported an Albert Pujols jersey during practice. His mother is from St. Louis, and he grew up a Cardinals fan.

    Getting in the swing

After a slow start during training camp, Sasha Pavlovic has been rounding into form. The Serbian swingman scored seven points, grabbed two rebounds and was very active in 15 minutes against Charlotte on Wednesday. Along with Anderson Varejao, who scored 16 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, Silas is considering shaking up his rotation a little.

"Sasha played very well. He's settling in," Silas said. "He could give us quality minutes."</div>

This is good news that that Snow is getting into the thick of things.

Maybe he'll be okay coming off the bench after all...

Snow is the complete "team Player" he has had to be playing with iverson all these years. he is not selfish and will do whatever is asked of him to better the team. Doesn't suprise me he's not causing rifts etc.
