I read in the newspaper that it wasn't his weed. He claims it was a friends he lent a backpack to, they found less than an ounce in the backpack so it's not a huge deal. 'Melo passed three drug tests recently, one in past two weeks. I don't think 'Melo is lying, especially with Athens just passing by.

I say he's innocent, just got caught in a bad spot.

it's still disturbing however u slice it up. Even if what he says is true (his friends weed) and borrowed the bag.. Still not a good thing to have close friends like that who would "borrow" your backpack u use to travel with and put wed in it etc. I like carmelo but he has shown flashes if immaturity at times.

Buy your friends their own bookbag to use your a multi millionaire..

Yea some of the points are doubtful and he has been immature and foolish at times. I think he should have stayed in college one more year.

Wasn't Carmelo on the TV show Punk'd and was they put him in a similar situation where they found drugs in his hotel room or something?

Never thought it would be real...

Just like Jordan, looks like Carmelo is on his way to a bust for the 2nd season.

No they won't, kids will be kids, which they will get themselves into trouble.

But your in the NBA you have be more responsible than that, and you have to be careful who you hang around with. You can't let people that could bring drugs into your life(or any other illegal activities) be in your life it's that simple. If 'Melo is telling the truth than he needs to get some new friends, if he's lying than he needs to get some help.

[IMG] Since when was Jordan a bust in his 2nd season? He got injured. No control over that. And he actually came back near the end of that season and still scored 63 pts against the Celts in the playoffs. At least Jordan didn't turn Vince Carter after that injury. [IMG]

This shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone because weed is very common in the NBA. I'm not saying all players use it, it's just common. As for Melo, he most likely still smokes weed for him to have it in his backpack - regardless of who owned it. Having any sort of drug in your possession puts up a red flag that you have or are currently using it.

    severe sarchasm ahead!

What? and NBA player found with weed? its all media lies!!! I will never let my kids watch another game!!!

seriously though, I dont think that anyone is very surprised by him having weed in his backpack, denying it or having someone else claim, via several methods, that it was actually his, not Anthony's.

Weed is also common in The NFL(ask Ricky Willams and others),but i mean it more than likely was Carmelo's weed anyways.if he was smart,he wouldn't have token anything like that in his stuff anyways.the airport detectors pick up on a lot of things, and if they see Weed,or other Drug items, your toast.

He's lucky to just get a summons.i don't know how much Weed he had in his posession, but it could have been a hasher punishment depending on the circumstances.

Does anybody know if the NBA will take action against Carmelo or not?

    here the article

    <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Melo's friend takes blame
James 'Slim' Cunningham says he left marijuana in Nuggets star's luggage

One of Carmelo Anthony's friends flew to Denver Thursday to claim responsibility for the marijuana found last week in the Nuggets star's carry-on bag and to attempt to clear Anthony's name.

"I want to apologize not only to Melo but to the city of Denver," said James "Slim" Cunningham, 28. "It was my foolish mistake and it's a shame Melo had to get a smudge on his name for what I did."

Also Thursday, about 45 minutes before tip-off in a preseason game in Los Angeles, Anthony read a statement expressing his regret over the incident.

Before reading the statement, Anthony, surprised at the number of reporters in the room, muttered, "Damn, it's not a murder case." </div>

rite....i think the weed was melo's after all, but im not suprised since weed usage is common. seriously, my view is that melo paid cunningham off to help him get out of this s***.

It's funny how you take things so seriously. Perhaps I should of used an "easier" word like "screwed" for your understanding. Jordan only played 18 games due to the injury so I was using "bust" in a different way, not the one regarding players whose careers are going to be horrible
Yeah, he wasn't a bust in the playoffs, but he only played 3 games, averaged 43.7, and was shown the door, which really doesn't prove anything.

Don't worry, I'm too mature to start another childish argument which you have started countless times.

    LOL.

By the way, I notice that practically every time someone responds to you, you insult them or respond sarcastically. Is that another sign of your maturity?

The whole "Damn its not a murder case" irks me a bit. 'Melo supposed to be a professional and ahs acted pretty immaturely. I fhe is a profiessional he should expect the attention.

As for the whole whethter ts Melo's weed or not? it was. As for Cunningham, I bet hes gonna get a big sum of money from Melo. [IMG]
