Paul Pirece and Antoine Walker were a great tandem when they were together with the Celtics. Both were All-Stars, and the team was looking up. However, as we all know, Walker was traded to Dallas last season, and is now a Hawk. He is in the final year of his contract, and will be an Unrestricted free Agent next season. My question is this: Do the Celtics need/want him back?
I don't think we need him. And the only way I'd want him is if he could prove that he's willing to not take 3's and take fewer shots (which he didn't do a good job of proving last year and won't prove this year). So, I'll pass.
I think they should take him. It will only end up as a plus. Sure he takes many questionable shots but his rebounding, passing, and scoring is what was missing from the celtics last season. That is why they did not do too well.
I agree with mrj18...I think in the right situation, he has something to offer. He should never be the main guy on offence, as he takes too many questionable shots (however, he did improve that some last year, his 3 pointers were down a lot.) but in Boston, he could really thrive again playing with Paul Pierce.
^^Well said. As I said in another thread, Walker will never wear Celtics green as long as DA is DOBO. Walkers talented, but his attitude has to be questioned, given what transpired upon his departure from Boston. Not to mention, I think the team would be taking a step backwards.
although the idea sounds nice, i personally dont like it. walker has the tendency to try to be a "one-man show" and that would be detrimental to the team. besides they wouldn't have need for a point man now that gary payton is here. walker, with his attitude and bad locker room presence, may also disrupt the chemistry of the team.
