The Bobcats defeated the Portland Trail Blazers Friday night in a very low scoring game, 69-63. The Bobcats' defense held the Blazers to just 2-16 shooting in the 3rd quarter.

Primoz Brezec and Steve Smith led the 'cats with 11 points each.

Check out Gerald Wallace's stat line.

    4-7 FG, 1-2 FT, 9 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists, 8 steals, 1 block, 5 TO

Other than the five turnovers, the eight steals are pretty impressive. And who was knocking him for his defense?

Gerald has put up great stats all around this preseason. Points, rebounds, assists, steals, you name it.

The win will give the young Bobcats team some confidence, and they could start playing with a lot more effort and desire in the upcoming games. Some of their players have been impressive so far, and may be on the verge of a breakout season.

As much as I love my Bobcats, they will NOT make it to the EC Finals in their first year :P .

More like J-Kidd...we need a better PG more than anything.

Good to see the Bobcats get them a win. They have a decent team starting to develop in Okafor, Wallace, and Brezec. All that's really missing is a PG. They should be able to address that situation come draft time next year.

I'd like to point out one other interesting stat in the Portland game. The Bobcats had 29 made field goals and 24 assists. Looks like they are really coming together as a team. But that's to be expected for a team with no superstar players.

With every game, the Bobcats will continue to gel. By the end of the season, they could surprise a lot of people with their team play. Much like the Utah Jazz did last season, though I doubt the Bobcats will have that much success.
