    Good idea

May I suggest tracking the FG stats also (not necessarily the percentage)? That would be great [IMG]

Will do, I'll probably add 3PTs, STLs & BLKs, too.

We've had discussions about this [IMG]. If you don't tell the whole story and just post the PPG it's obviously gonna go in favor of Kobe (or any player who takes a lot of attempts) rather than how he actually performed offensively.

    IMO for offense track: FGM/FGA FG%, 3PTM/3PTA 3PT%, FTM/FTA FT%.

Also use these #s for reference to compare him without Shaq at the end of the season:
    Kobe's best FG% (01-02): 46% 749-1,597
    Kobe's best 3PT% (02-03): 38% 124-324

And if you want to see if he can put up MJ numbers without Shaq at the end of the season:
    Jordan's best FG% (90-91): 53% 990-1,837
    Jordan's best 3PT% (89-90): 37% 111-297

That's why I said that we should track the FG stats. We don't necessarily need the percentage, because if we need to know, we all have brains and calculators...but as long as we have attempts and how many he hit, that's good info. Isn't that what I said? [IMG]

I dont know if its just me but Kobe has got to pick up his game even tough hes doing good but the problem is if any of our guys dont step up were not going to win with only good performances by him.

Yeah I flip flopped his stats from the Denver and San Antonio game originally. It's fixed now.

I agree, looking at his stats, Kobe needs to produce more in the rebounding area, and the way he can do it is by playing more in the paint on offense. He has a great post up game, but so far he hasn't taken advantage of it. He's attacking more from the perimeter instead of setting up inside and abusing his defender.

i looked at kobes standings in the nba, his 1st in almost everything, but i heard this at school that if kobe wins the scoring champ, the lakers wont make it to the playoffs, but if he doesnt they will. i believe he can do both.

Kobe Bryant is having a monster year statistically, but his FG% is terrible at 39.3%. I'm also surprised he's not averaging more steals, because he's been one of the league leaders the past few seasons. Watching the games, he's trying to do, too much when the Lakers get behind and forces a lot of perimeter shots. A good example was against Memphis, when he shot three straight airballs from downtown. I still have faith the Lakers can get it together and make the playoffs, but right now they are playing .500 ball and it's simply not going to be enough for them to make it in the West.

Kobe is an amazing slasher, but he's been horrible shooting on the perimeter. He's slowly drifting into Tmac's play from last year, except the Lakers have a better supporting cast then what McGrady had, and the Lakers will win more than 21 games.

Why don't we all just look all of the stats here:

    http://www.nba.com/playerfile/kobe_bryant/index.html

updated, official, and no hassle [IMG] but to die-hard fans I understand cuz I actually used to do the same Kobe tracker on a piece of paper. I've done LeBron also (last season) but got tired... :P now I just refer to the nba.com.

I get a better feel for how he's playing doing it game by game. I like checking out player stats so I don't mind doing the Kobe tracker. I was hoping he could average more assists this season and put up 20/6/6 numbers. Hopefully the shots he creates for teammates start falling.

His steals numbers are down for several reasons. One reason is because the Lakers are playing more zone defense then they ever have before, which limits his opportunities. Another is because he has become the Lakers' weakside shot blocker, which takes him away from the passing lanes. Butler has kind of taken over as the guy getting into the passing lanes. With this year's style of play, I don't see Kobe getting his steals numbers up to more than 1.5 this year.

Another reason why his steals are down is because he can't gamble on defense, because shaq is no longer there inside. Kobe can't just let his man loose no more.
