    Richardson had 26pts
    Murphy had 17/10
    Dun had 11=weak
    Speedy had 14/5
    Fisher had 10 in 22mins

Dun had 1 good pre season game. He has basically been a non factor in the rest of the games. As of right now, I would rather have Murph resigned than Dunleavy...

You said it. It's great he passes and dribbles well for a guy his size, but thought this guy was a shooter and a scorer. I mean I could care less if the guy has a high basketball IQ because he can't put the ball through the hoop consistently. He's an all around player but he can't do one thing extremely well. All hype thus far. Not worth a 3rd overall pick IMO.

Before you crucify Dunleavy you have to take into account that first of all these games mean nothing. Not only do these stats not matter but they are a false indicator of what is to come. Richardson every preseason before this one has been awful and last year the kid balled.

IMO I think Dunleavy will have a pretty good year. Musselman is gone and Montgomery will really give him the opportunity to play quality minutes and make some plays. His shooting touch is good not great. The problem is that he settles for bad shots. If you settle for 3's and 20 fters your % wont be very high. His problem is more of an uncertainty/confidence thing. Montgomery is good for that.

So the point of this is to wait and see how the year goes before you offer fictional contracts to our players.

Yes, I understand these games are meaningless when it comes to the actual regular season and standing towards playoffs. However, with that being said, why is Jason Richardson and Murphy playing so well and Dunleavy is not? I would also have to disagree about Richardson being awful in his previous pre seasons. In fact, going back to his rookie year, people were raving about him and his athleticism. If anything, he has just been more consistent this preseason than others. I think Dunleavy will have a better year also. I agree with everything you have said about him. The point is he has had 1 good game out of how many? 7, 8? That is bad news.

I know these games mean nothing and maybe it's too early to judge him, but it still doesn't change that a good number of fans including me consider him overrated. I hate how every time we do a draft we always miss out on the one player that can change the franchise in the short term and the long term. In 2002, I'm like pick Stoudamire or pick Nene or Wilcox, or any athletic power forward with high potential to pair up with Murphy and what do the W's do? They do the opposite. It's so typical sometimes. I'd go all the way down to picking Boozer before Dunleavy and look how Boozer turned out versus Dunleavy. I should be thankful that this year they didn't pick Rafael Araujo (only because the Raptors did it first). How long should you have to wait for a top 3 pick to suddenly play like one? I mean with Jrich, even though he's been inconsistent and slow to reach his potential, at least he showed more explosivness and willingness to entertain when we had nothing to cheer about except for Antwan Jamison. Dunleavy I'm like falling asleep waiting for him to bust out like Nowitzki/Peja and especially after looking at his sleepy Tmac like expression. It's just really frustrating to have high hopes on this guy and he just dashes them with 25% shooting from the field off 10 or 12 shots per game. We need his scoring badly if he can't do it you might as well sub in a 50% shooter like Cheaney or some oldie that dribble circlces around Dun Done. if the team plans to improve last season's record Dunleavy needs to get it going early not when games start to not matter anymore because the post season hopes are over. The guy's got to start earning his 3rd round pick money and start hustling when he's out on the court because he's running out of excuses why guys like Brian Cardinal or Tayshaun Prince can outplay him.

Yeah your right, Dunleavy will have to step it up big time. The same stuff last year won't fly but the entire team has to pick it up. There were bigger problems than Dunleavy's play last year.

As far as the 2002 draft here were the top 10 picks:
    1. Houston Yao Ming 7-6 295 C Shanghai (China) 1980
    2. Chicago Jay Williams 6-2 195 PG Duke Jr.
    3. Golden State Mike Dunleavy 6-9 220 SF Duke Jr.
    4. Memphis Drew Gooden 6-10 230 PF Kansas Jr.
    5. Denver Nickoloz Tskitishvili 7-0 220 SF/PF (Georgia) 1983
    6. Cleveland Dajuan Wagner 6-2 200 PG/SG Memphis Fr.
    7. New York Maybyner "Nene" Hilario 6-10 253 PF/C (Brazil) 1982 *pick traded to Denver
    8. LA Clippers (Atl) Chris Wilcox 6-10 218 PF Maryland So.
    9. Phoenix Amare Stoudemire 6-10 240 PF HSSr.
10.Miami Caron Butler 6-7 235 SF UConn So.

*No one predicted boozer to be in the lottery and he turned out to be more valuable than the Cavs 1st round pick at the #6 in Wagner.

    My picks would be
    1. Yao
    2. Amare
    3. Jay williams(even though he struggled his 1st year he could have been special)
    4. Nene
    5. Dunleavy

Amare didn't show up to work out with us and he was a high schooler. We couldn't land jay williams. Not only that but Jay got in a tragic motorcycle and his career looks to be over. Nene is a big tough guy and we could of drafted him. His offense is not very polished but he would have been a big tough defender that would have been useful at the 4.

If you put any of these players in Dunleavy's situation last year except Ming or Tayshaun prince, they wouldn't help us to get to a better record. The reason I didn't put Tayshaun higher on my draft list is because of his offense. If I was a GM I would not pick him in the top 5 though his defense on the wing players would have helped us win more games. Amare is good but his team was still awful even though they had young talent. Caron Butler will be like a serviceable player but nothing special. Nene would be cool but his offense still needs work & Robinson offensively won games for us. Check mate....

P.S. Drew Gooden would have been the absolute worst pick.

Man, are you guys are quick to the gun. Dunleavy's defense has been extremely aggressive in comparison to the past 2 years. He's attacking the passing lanes, showing some quick hands and strength in the post. This was a weakness in the past, no?

Most all of his points are coming around the rim. He's showing an ability to get there and finish. This was a criticism, no?

The major concern seems to be shooting right? Well, I think 6 games into the pre-season, where he's the primary runner in a brand new motion offense is a little quick to judge. I hope you people show more patience when you're raising your children.

Good analysis mesh and upsidedown. Dunleavy has received so much criticism already going into only his third season. He has a few tough PREseason games and we are already showing him the door. How about we give the guy a chance under coach Montgomery before yelling "crucify!"

Still who can explain why he has only had 1 good pre season game thus far?

I'm as impatient as Warriorsfansnc93 here when we see high twenties/ low thirties field goal percentages when Matt Caroll could probably outshoot him. Yes it's good Dunleavy is attacking the passing lanes (from what I saw on this week's comcast nba tv free previews). He does have the long arms for it and he's getting better in keeping people in front of him with his wide step. He's doing well in a Montgomery defensive scheme, but I'm still waiting for this guy to follow through on his jumper, which he said he was going to work on this summer. So far I count more J's in his name than he has going for him on the floor. It's just frustrating to see this 6'10 small forward with an obvious reach over his opponent, the skills that won't back up the hype and he draws nothing but iron everytime I watch him. Now I know how the sonics feel with Rashard Lewis at times.

Here is what Jrich, Murphy, and Dunleavy have averaged in just pts in the first 7 games of the pre season.

Jrich:16.3 (did not play 1 game)
    Murph: 13.8 (took 1 shot 1 game)
    Dunleavy:9.7 (went scoreless 1 game)

I think that's irrational. I'd say 4 good games at least, the fourth may be aguable, but c'mon, one good game? One great game and three good games, maybe. I think if you were to take a poll as to which game you're talking about, you'd get at least 2 different answers as to which was Dunleavy's one 'good' game.

Well for one, you guys obviously don't like Dunleavy for whatever reason. You look at every game he plays critically. You put a microscope on every mistake he commits when you turn the other way when Jrich is making those same mistakes because jrich is "athletic".

This is really a dead issue until the REAL season starts back up.

Here let me list out the games all 3 players had

    Jrich:13pts, DNP, 14pts, 8pts, 25pts, 12pts, 26pts
    Murphy: 15pts, 17pts,4pts (1 shot), 11pts, 15pts, 18pts, 17pts
    Dun: 17pts, 9pts, 10pts, 8pts, 13pts, 0pts, 11pts

Jrich had 1 game with single digit scoring. Dun had 3 games with single digit scoring. 1 where he got SHUT OUT! Jrich had 2 games with over 25pts, DUN HAD NO games over 17pts. Now, I dont get a chance to watch the games in person very often, so when we talk about cutting Jrich some slack when he makes the same mistakes Dunleavy does. GET OVER IT! The star of the team will always get more leaway when it comes to mistakes over a scrub...

I don't think it's a matter of being athletic, it's a matter of putting the darn ball through the hoop.

Isnt that what basketball is all about? If not, then it would have been called pass, dribble, rebound ball.

I also don't want to see Dunleavy start playing up to his 3rd overall draft position when the W's know for sure they ain't making the playoffs. That's going to be equally frustrating. I mean nobody make any jokes about not going to the playoffs because there's always a chance. It happened for the bucks and the heat of all teams and almost for the Jazz (nobody thought Kirilenko would be allstar before the season started).
