<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Phoenix Suns exercised their fourth-year option on forward Amare Stoudemire on Wednesday, extending his contract through the 2005-06 season. Stoudemire will receive $2.6 million in 2005-06 season, then he will be a restricted free agent. That means the Suns will have the right of first refusal, meaning they could keep him by matching another team's offer.</div> Link
They'd be talking about a big extension next season, but if I were Amare, I'd bolt. Nash's big salary would handicap the team in a few year's time, and one of Johnson or Richardson would be gone.

The Suns will probably give Amare the max deal...They will sign Amare before Johnson...
^ Unfortunately, they might not have the ability to keep him. They're financial situation after signing Q and Nash isn't looking great. I hope they can resign him, I think they're once piece away from being the nucleus of a championship team. (That piece being a true center)

(That piece being a true center)</div> Actually, there is a rule that they can go over the cap to re-sign their own players but that is how situations like the Knicks who are millions over that cap start up. There are a lot of teams out there who are gearing up to try to make a run at Amar?, such as the Bulls, who traded away Crawford for numous players with contracts running out in '06. It's hard to think about the Suns letting Amar? walk. They still have two years until Amar? becomes a free agent, maybe they will try heavily to trade Shawn Marion for a center to fix up the cap situation a little bit. The Suns will have to make a big decesion after this season with Joe Johnson. I don't think they can afford to re-sign him, while keeping Marion, and while Amar? is coming up in a contract year.
don't forget the signing of Q... I like him for the depth he gives the team in scoring but he is not nearly as valuable as JJ or Amare
Amare ownz! Maybe the Lakers can collect him! haha. I really like him. If the suns lose him, they will be losing alot.
