Along with needing the practice time to sharpen a struggling offense, Montgomery still is mulling over how best to use what the Warriors count as one of their main assets: depth. The Warriors' starting lineup against Portland next Wednesday at the Arena in Oakland remains a mystery. Montgomery has not told his players yet, and perhaps he does not know himself. When training camp started, Montgomery figured he would take the entire preseason to evaluate his options. "One good thing is he laid the ground rules early,'' center Adonal Foyle said. "He said he was going to try different combinations. He said it was not going to be personal, that he was going to do what's best for the team.'' Shooting guard Jason Richardson, small forward Mike Dunleavy and Murphy almost surely will start. The other two spots appear less certain. </div>
Our bench depth might save us but I think in the end only Murph or Richardson have the killer instinct to shoot the ball consistently. Richardson's got some new moves this year with his pump fakes and improved handles and Murph has shown he's still the consistent scorer from midrange when he was healthy. When Pietrus is healthy I'd like him to get enough minutes to prove he can start now and then I'd move Dunleavy to the point guard spot when we need some inside game and place Murphy and Robinson out on the wings at the 4/5 spots. There's no way Dunleavy can jack up a shot and miss with a 6'2 guard on him shooting from 12' to 15' ... unless he's wide open that is.
If Davis starts over Foyle then I will put my head in a paperbag. Davis can still do some things but we just signed Foyle to a big deal. If Davis starts that means Montgomery has more faith in Davis than Foyle. I'll make bags for everyone here: I'll cut out holes for the eyes and have a sad face drawn on. I'll draw a huge smirk on allnet's bag.
I think if Davis starts it is because Foyle had that hamstring injury and is not ready to start. He will start by the end of the first month of the season...
I want mine with an angry face with jagged teeth. I'm boiling over here if Foyle doesn't put up Ben Wallace like numbers. I like him but I'm changing my stance when he's asking for that kind of money to be on the bench because he couldn't crack the starting rotation in a half court defense/offense.
I'd like everyone who's faith in Foyle is fading to go look at his stats over the past three years from games where he played more than 30 minutes. They are impressive. I don't expect him to consistently do it this year, but I do expect to see the center spot capbably manned by Adonal Davis this year just the way it's been done the past few years with Adonal Dampier. By the way, I always wished Todd Fuller would have panned out for the sole reason of being able to say our center was Tadonal Foyler...there's never been a more perfect meshing of two names. Aside from that, I always hated Fuller.
Don't say the F word. oh.... the pain! Fuller was the year we could have grabbed like 12 other good or decent players because of how deep the draft was. And we picked the guy who couldn't even make it in the league. I guess he wasn't the worst. Anyone ever heard of Chris Washburn? 3rd round pick I think in 1986 or so? BTW my faith in Foyle's health is fading not his production. Then again.... I've always felt he was the guy that matched the warriors run n' gun style of motion offense when we were a highly athletic team. I just don't think he'll be durable with the style of game he plays to average those numbers from that year with the style of game we play right now which is slower and after getting over a big injury. Being that big and running constantly can just tear away at your knees.

It will be very embarrasing if we sign this guy to a 40 million dollar deal and he doesn't even start. Expect Skip Bayless and every knucklehead to give us some grief.
He's not starting because he's not in game shape yet. I'd bet he'll be starting by the end of November. Oh, and if Skip tries to give you any grief, remind him that he's the guy who wanted the Warriors to take Reece Gaines instead of Pietrus.

Man I really hope Foyle is able to get in shape and perform at the level that we need him to be at. I need Foyle to shut the haters up who think he is over paid, I need Dunleavy to shut up all the haters that think he is a waste and I need the Warriors to make the playoffs to shut up every basketball fan I know.
