It was a good preseason and I am looking forward to a great year with the best talent we have had off the bench in years. Defense was great in preseason and hopefully will continue this season. How about the roster spots, will we keep 15? The way I see it, today.
    Starters: Backups:
    Kobe-SG K.Rush
    Atkins-PG T. Brown Sasha
    Mihm-C Grant Vlade(injured)
    C.Butler-SF Walton D.George(injured)
    Odom-PF Cook J.Jones Medvedenko(injured?)

The Pacific is ours for the taking, I see a #3 seed in the playoffs behind San Antonio and Minn. [IMG]

Well, I update my thread as many times as needed...and IMO, this is the most likely opening day roster...

    C - Chris Mihm/Brian Grant/Vlade Divac (IR)
    PF - Lamar Odom/Brian Cook/Slava Medvedenko (IR)
    SF - Caron Butler/Jumaine Jones/Luke Walton
    SG - Kobe Bryant/Kareem Rush/Devean George (IR)
    PG - Chucky Atkins/Tierre Brown/Sasha Vujacic

This is what I think our starting line up should be:

    Kobe Bryant, Point Guard
    Lamar Odom, Shooting Guard
    Caron Butler, Small Foward
    Brian Grant, Power Foward
    Chris Mihm, Center

I would really like to see this line up out there but it probably won't happen because the fact Rudy Tomjanavich doesn't want to put down his ppint guard(s) by perferring to play Kobe at the one. I think in my opinion, this would be a good line up because Kobe can play the guard spot better than a lot of point guards, especially on our team, and then we can have Lamar whos a great passer in at the 2 to be an offensive threat by hitting the boards and posting up, than Caron Butler could be a good swing man/rebounder, than Grant who will just fight for the rebound and hustle to get the ball. Than Mihm in the middle for defense, cloggin the lane and being aggresive and contesting shots and rebounding. I think that line could work out really exceptionally good.

I think we will be fine with:

    Chucky Atkins, Point Guard
    Kobe Bryant, Shooting Guard
    Caron Butler, Small Foward
    Lamar Odom, Power Foward
    Chris Mihm, Center

We will be fine with this line up in this game, but I think the line up I posted about would work a lot better im my honest opinion.

Atkins is a dissapointment. I thought he would of been good for us, but he is slow on D. I wouldnt mind starting Brown over him later in the season, but Atkins still deserves a shot in the regular season.

Jesus Christ, Brown has failed at every team he's played for in the NBA. What makes him a starter all of a sudden? Vujacic is a rookie. A R O O K I E!!! Unless you're Lebron James, you won't start on opening day! Atkins has been in the league a long time and knows how to play to win. He should start.

Idk Brown either plays better off the bench or has developed his game over the last couple years playing in the lower leagues. I think start Atkins first ten-twenty games and if he has persistant problem see how Brown does at the start and just try to work your way thro it. I mean that's what we really should be doing the first half the season. Seeing who plays good and what the best squad is to start, to see if certain players play better off the bench and such. You know.

So just because Tierre Brown has failed with other NBa teams in his career, he shouldn't be a starter anywhere else? That's a wack argument man. Tierre Brown has had some nice quality preseason games. I like the man's energy, his speed and quickness to the basket, never intimidated to drive to the hole, with a nice finish at the hoop as well. I'm no Chucky Atkins fan myself, but with the little depth we have at the point guard position, we better take our options as they come.

Looking from an Outsiders Point Of view on this as a Kings fan who shouldn't like the Lakers peroid, but i actually like the opening day roster for this year.

The Team has some new and old faces here, but as i have said in some of my post's here on the Laker page here, this team is going to be a more faster,Efficent team, and more disiplined than last years team was.

So this will be yet another sucessful Laker team.

Damn nobody's liking atkins, but i knew that was gonna happen when Lala Fans are used to the above average pointgaurds. And Chucky is a full blown F. Arent you guys forgetting about Luke??? Put his ass at the point he's your best passer.

    Luke Walton, PG
    Kobe Bryant, SG
    Lamar Odom, SF
    Brian Grant, PF
    Chris Mihm, C

Last year, what we believed to be "above-average" turned out to be a bum in the Finals against Chauncey Billups. I would've rather had any other guard running the point in those Piston games than Gary Payton.

As far as Luke goes, he'd get burned at PG. On fast breaks, Walton would be looking for the guard ahead of him...by about 30 feet.

The resolution? Start Atkins for experience, but play Tierre longer to be a scoring threat against Miller, and let Kobe and Odom take the ball down occasionally.

I watched a couple of Laker preseason games and I saw that Tierre was a bigger ball hog than Kobe. But it looks like everyone likes this guy as a POINT GAURD!?!?! But usually when he plays Kobe's not on the court and he seems to force a lot of his shots. Will Kobe be happy with Brown??? Cuz i dont think so.

Well, it just depends. Sometimes a scoring PG is helpful. If Tierre could get around 5 or 6 assists a game (if he ends up being a starter), I'd be satisfied. Look at Steve Francis.

I know and understand that we have a problem at the PG position...but every single team in the league has a weakness, also. Since you are a Mavs fan, you understand that a scoring PG could be beneficial, since you have Jason Terry. He's no Jason Kidd, since Kidd can easily get 10 assists a night, but Terry's no punk, either.

Plus, I'm going to consider that Tierre was doing all he could to make the team...so if ballhogging is one of them, it didn't go unnoticed, and will more than likely be fixed by the time the season starts.

point taken. But to me Bobbit did a lot of good without ballhoggin. But that's just my opinion.

    On the Dallas statement:
I heard JT lost his starting spot to Devin Harris just to throw that out their.

I thank the Lakers will lose, and i dont think the lakers will get to far if kobe keep Ball-hoggin as he did in the preseason the only time he pass tha ball was when a player was down court or when he picked up his dribble, and i also hope odom plays way better thus far i have not been impressd at all
