Corliss one of the worst defenders in the game? Then I don't know what Corliss you're referring too. The Corliss Williamson that I know is a good defender. With his bulkiness and size he often times has the edge over the opposing SF's in term of physical play. Last time I seen Corliss playing he did a good job guarding Kobe Bryant and made things difficult for him, however on the flipside Bryant quickness was a problem, but when it came to Bryant patent post-up moves it wasn't easy for Bryant at all.

If anything Corliss Williamson may be the key to containing Paul Pierce. Pierce is not necessarily quick on his feet, so that's a good for us. Pierce is a physical player and what better defender do we have than Corliss Williamson to put on him? Looking at our starting lineup, I think we may have a problem with Pierce because I think majority of the game he will be taking Iguodala to school, but if we can put Williamson on him, I think we can slow him down.

Great preview. I agree about Igoudala.

I'm going to say that it'll be:
    Philadelphia 88
    Boston: 81

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Arthur:</div><div class="quote_post">Corliss? lol, he's one of the worst defenders in the game...He's all offensive, which is why Brown wanted to get rid of him in DET. Iggy is the best man-man defender on the Sixers, which is why OB loves him, and has inserted him the the starting lineup. He loves his D and his playmaking ability....</div>

I agree Pierce would have a ball with Corliss covering him. His speed alone will create open shots and drives to the basket.

    Good start for the 76ers.

Surprised to see Kenny Thomas playing, but he is looking good. Hit a couple of long range jumpers and even tried for a trey.

Sammy off the bench is a good move, really provides a spark when AI and Kenny Thomas sit.

It was an ok half by the Sixers, but there is a numerous amount of things they ned ot improve omn in the second half.

Right now I see the Sixers settling way to much for easy jumpres,I want to see AI and company do a better jopb at attacking he basket in the second half.

Another thing is the Sixers seem to be slacking on defense, espically on the perimeter. They dont see to be hustling on defense that much and they need to pick up the intensity if they want to stop red hot Paul Peirce and the Celtics.

Great win by the Sixers, they were leading most of the first half and fell behing mosstly in the second, they came out with the W an thats what matters.

Kyle Korver really gave us a big lift providing 4 hits from downtown,AI played very well and its nice seeing him opening up the season with a 30 point game, the rest of the Sixers were solid also,Marc Jackson and Samuel Dalembert played solid at C,Jackson scored the points while Dalembert handled the rebounds. If we would have had Glenn ot give us more of a scoring push we would've won by a larger amount imo.

Every Sixers victory why dont we vote on the player of the game, today my vote goes to AI.

Well they were up by 18....Iverson was just killin on the court....he was 75% of the reason why they came back and won that game. Yea a very great win by the Sixers tho...proved me wrong...I thought they already losed. :P

AI is definately the player of the game [IMG]

I`m loving the new lineup! Marc Jackson is going to be a great weapon on offense and defense. He also brings alot of toughness. A.I. looks like he played PG his whole career. It`s going to be really fun watching him this season, being a floor general. Kenny T with a double double, he`ll bring alot of that this season. Andre has proved that he can be a starter, on offense he can get to the hole and on defense, he`s the first one back. Off the bench, Korver added four threes. Obie must be likeing that. Willie Green chipped in 11 points. Great win by the Sixers squad to open the season [IMG]

I think the 76ers will definatly surprise some people with their new lineup. Marc Jackson is looking great so far, Dalembert is looking like an amazing spark off the bench (10 boards last night). The only thing I don't like in the starting lineup is McKie, who played 16 minutes and Willie played 36. Then again it's not who starts it's who finishes. [IMG]

WOOOOOOO IVERSON AND KORVER !!!WHOS THE TRUTH NOW!!!!

anyway billy king did a good job this offseason and now we have a lotta depth in our bench, having willie and samuel on the bench is like having 2 pair of starters with mckie and jackson.

ON a given night, when you need to add another player in there with AI in order to top Paul Pierce, shouldn't that tell you something.... [IMG] [IMG]

However, individual stats don't always cover who gets the W and last night, Philly was the better team. We had our chances to win that game and frankly, blew them with stupid scoring attempts and a failure to play hard defense in the 4th.

Congrats to Philly, you took advantage of your opportunities and made the best of them and went home with the win.

I'll tell ya something I really liked last night.

    1. I loved how the 76ers pushed the ball while rotating all our players to keep nice fresh energized bodies on the floor.

    2. I also liked how they didn't give up after being down by 18.

JO looked so happy last night after beating his old squad, I was really proud of them for playing like that for him.

True but thats just like sayin somethin like this....

Shaq needed another player to equal stats with Richard Jefferson last night
    or
Tmac needed another player to add up to Sheeds 24 points 2 nights ago

The one who was guarding Iverson happened to be Gary Payton. He got shut down obviously....there aint NO WAY Wille Green or Aaron Mckie can hold Paul Pierce like they tried. Pierce did a great job tho...I guess its not too surprising tho because theres ALOT of players getting over 28 ppg including Iverson, Kobe, Pierce, Garnett did great...just a few to name. But its only the first game I guess. Good win by the Sixers and nice job by both Pierce and Iverson.d

This game was amazing, too bad I can't see it somehow.Pierce really seemed like 2-3 years ago(Stats wise) when he was dropping 30+ points every other night.

Yeah that's not true, or relevant. I don't think that PP has ever averaged more that AI in ppg. So actually, "on a given night" you would need to add a player with PIERCE to top AI.

I used to really like the Celtics, but I think that they aren't in a position to get it done. Playing with the Lakers really messed GP up. Imagine if he could still drop 20 and 8 dimes nightly, they Celts would be in contention for homecourt. He's too passive I think, what did he have 4 points last night?

You folks missed my point. I was clearly responding to the poster who used AI and KORVER and then said "who's the truth now".

Wait, just to make it straight, let me re-refrence the quote:

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">WOOOOOOO IVERSON AND KORVER !!!WHOS THE TRUTH NOW!!!! </div>

If you're going to mock someone's knickname, like that poster appeared to be doing, the least you can do is not use a squewed comparison to do it.

I never said or meant anything demeaning towards AI, only that the posters comment made little sense. I may not like everything that AI does, but I respect his ability as a player.

I'm quite familiar that AI averages more points than PP, most seasons. That wasn't the point of my comment. My point was simply that if you have to use 2 players, in order to make fun of one, then you shouldn't be talking smack in the first place.

I know Philly fans can understand that and know that what I'm saying is fair.
