Personally, but it is just based on intuition, I would have signed Murphy but not J-Rich. I guess Murphy will be better than ever and will continue improving, while J-Rich will stay good old J-Rich. In offense, the best player on the roster, but not good enough to carry the team, no all-star. There are many players who could make his stats when given similar minutes and his role. Anyway, let's hope J-Rich proves me wrong this year and have a breakthrough season and then GS will match any FA offer for him next year with pleasure.

I would of signed Murph, he looks as good as he looked before injury. I do not think what Murph was reportitly asking for was outrageous. If the team does well and everybody is signed except J-Rich, maybe that applies a little pressure for J to sign back up with us at the end of the season for a dollar amount we can live with. I can just picture us signing both of them right now for 80mill and 60mil and than going 34-48 for the year for some reason. Not that I think we will, sometimes I think we have a curse....I let you know for sure in 76 years.
www.hoopshype.com is reporting JRich and Murphy want out. They offered JRich 60 million and Murphy 50 and they shot it down. These two bastards the very spoiled. Murphy getting 50 million is more than fair, he's only had one good year. JRich @ 60 is very fair. We may have to trade them but there is some value for them.

These contracts are more than fair. Their agent is an a-hole and is basically cutting our throats. If Jrich and Murphy want out because these contracts were not reasonable, then screw them, we are going to sign someone even better this FA season. I hope they play their as$es of this season and not just mope. This is stupid... http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?...SPG019JRNT1.DTL
Like it or not, I believe not re-signing Richardson and Murphy was a good move. Mullin is looking at the long term future of this franchise and he's not going to be bullied into signing extensions for players when it isn't in the best interest of the club. What Mullin has done is to say that he's not going to gamble the franchise's future on how good Richardson and Murphy are going to be. He's going to wait until next offseason when he can evaluate them and pay them what they're worth. Mullin knows that while he's created cap space, this isn't going to be a great free agent year. Randolph and McGrady both just signed extensions, so you can take them out of the running, and Parker is close to signing an extension, so he's not a realistic posibility either. If Mullin doesn't use the cap space on his own guys, there aren't many other options out there as far as free agents go. So Mullin knows that if he's going to bring in new personnel, he has to do it through trades. And, the best way to pull off a trade is to have young stars signed to reasonable contracts. By signing a player to a contract extension now, and it turns out that the extension is too big, that player becomes untradeable (see: Jamison, Antawn). By waiting until next offseason, Mullin has another year to evaluate Richardson and Murphy and if he decides they aren't the future of the franchise, they'll be much easier to move because they'll have all the leverage in negotiating a sign and trade (see: Dampier, Erick). The only difference between the Damp situation and the Richardson/Murphy situation is that Richardson and Murphy will almost certainly be base year compensation players next year. This means that doing a sign and trade involving them would be much more complicated unless the trading partner was under the cap. It will be more complicated, but certainly very possible. I keep saying it, look for a trade with the Clips involving Brand if they have another bad year. They'll be under the cap and Richardson's or Murphy's (most likely Richardson's) BYC status won't matter. And while Sterling typically doesn't take on big salary players, he'd take Richardson if it meant he didn't have to pay Brand (of course the W's would need to trade more than just Richardson). While this is just an example of the type of trade the Warriors could do, the priniciple stands for all of them. If you have a restricted free agent that another team wants more than you, let them name the contract price and work out a sign and trade with them. Again, just look at Damp. As for the "comments" made by Fegan saying that he'd get Richardson and Murphy out if they didn't get extensions, that's just Fegan playing hardball. Both players denied making ultimatums, they like being here, and no one can pay them more than the Warriors. Look for them to put their heads down, have big seasons, and get their contracts from the Warriors next year. By the way, if you want to hear whining, just look at Sprewell. Not only did he say the T-Wolves contract of 3 years 27 mil was insulting, he said he was refusing it because he had to worry about feeding his kids. If you can't feed your kids on 9 mil a year, it's time to get a new financial advisor. By the way, 9 mil buys you roughly 1,800,000 happy meals...I don't think feeding the kids should be an issue.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting custodianrules2:</div><div class="quote_post">Man I am upset. In a weak FA market next off season we may have to overpay them just to keep them.</div> All you have to do is let the market set the price. It sure worked with Damp last year. Also, there aren't going to be that many teams with cap space next offseason, and if the owners think the next CBA will severely reduce the size and length of contracts, they aren't going to be willing to overpay for Richardson and Murphy just to lure them away from the Warriors. I love both these guys, but there isn't anything really unique about them. If I'm an owner or GM on another team, I'd say just wait until the '06 offseason when the max contract could be something like 4 years 56 mil.

I'm really quick to react when contract extensions aren't finished this year because Jrich and Murphy are following their agents advice rather their own. Whatever happened to just thinking for yourself? And yes I believe I commented on some other forums that Sprewell is just plain up there with Rasheed Wallace dumbass comments. I hope he doesn't choke Flip Saunders. This one dude was like who would you trade for Latrell Sprewell. I'm like, "are you joking?" I just fear that in the next FA market, the price of Murphy and Jrich could be high just because of the shortage of good FA's. Hopefully no team is willing to overpay for them and if they try to we can just threaten to match any offer.
