I don't think this was a good idea. These are the first games of the season and people are eager to see what their teams look like. On another note, ticket sales will probably be low for the first game which could influence record sellouts for a few teams. "I won't say what I really think about the genius that started the season on election day since it's probably the same person that started the season on Halloween in previous years," Cuban said. "There's only a presidential election once every four years. We start on that day. Genius." -- Marc Cuban, Mavericks Owner I was wondering what everyone else thinks about the league starting three big games on Election Day and did the NBA make the right judgement in doing this. Tuesdays games include Sacramento @ Dallas, Houston @ Detroit, and Denver @ L.A. Marquee teams IMO.
Does everyone know the Redskins theory? Since 1932, if the Redskins win on their game before Election Day, then the man that's currently the President wins the election. However, if the Redskins lose, the challenger wins the election. The Redskins lost to the Packers yesterday...so therefore, it should be in Kerry's favor. What does this have to do with basketball? Well, the Lakers are part of a theory, also. Every year they won the championship on Election year, the Republican won the election. 1972 - Lakers win the championship, Ford is elected (Republican) 1980 - Lakers win the championship, Reagan is elected (Republican) 1984 - Lakers win the championship, Reagan is re-elected (Republican) 1988 - Lakers win the championship, George Bush is elected (Republican) 2000 - Lakers win the championship, George Bush (son) is elected (Republican) With that said, the other Presidents between 1972 and 2000 were democrats (Carter and Clinton). The Lakers lost the Finals last season...which took place in 2004...Election year...meaning, the democrat wins? Kerry's favor again. Pretty interesting.
Go Kerry... There are a lot of interesting myths and superstitious ideas out there, and they are interesting..I dont think it will effect it that much though, a lot of people will vote early.

Next he is something else, How do we know who he is. Kerry also doesn't treat everyone as equals. I mean he plans on taxing people who make more than 200 grand a year right, Is that fair to those people. Everyone recieves the same service from the government. Its like saying a man has to pay more his Big Mac and Coke because he drove up in a Mercedez. It doesn't make sense. Vote For Bush. Also, curses are made to be broken aka Red Sox. GO BUSH!

It doesn't matter if the NBA Season starts on Election day or not.i think this subject is Trivial at best. By the Way:Go Kerry
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Bobcats:</div><div class="quote_post">Has anybody here voted/is going to vote later on today?</div> I Voted early this morning at about 7:30 AM...I Was proud to do my duty as an American Citizen, and do my Obligation. :bigthumbu
I just saw the ring celebration, and the lifting of the banner. It was exciting, and I think Detroit might have the best fans in the NBA.I thought it was great that a firefighter won the ring contest. But I do think it might have been fixed as so he won, but I dont mind it. Joe Dumars got the loudest cheer next to Ben Wallace. YEAH!!!!!!!
I'm not an American so it shouldn't really faze me who Americans vote for but America is obviously the most powerful country in the world and many things runs thru them so who they vote is pretty damn important to the rest of the world. Everyone is so caught up in this but I find it amazing that it's actually so close I don't know what the Bush supporters see in him. I could list a million things to critize about him but since this is a basketball topic, I chose not to. Howver, I support Kerry to the full extent. I hope for your country's sake, he wins. IMO, he will lead America to more prosperity and respect which will somewhat make up for the enormous amount of respect you guys have lost in the 4 years that Bush has been in charge. I have met people of many ethnicites and backgrounds and one thing they all have in common is the hatred for America. Not due to it's people, but due to it's leader. It's time to change that. Anyways, I think it was kind of awkward to start on election day. I expect the ratings to be pretty low, lower then usual for an opening day event. They should just start on Novemeber 1st or something, it would make sense every year instead of starting on halloween or in this case, the day of the American election. My predictions for today's games: Sacramento @ Dallas- Dallas will take this one. Houston vs. Detriot An inexperienced team that hasn't even fully gelled yet against the defending world champions on thier HOME floor on the day they recieve their championship rings infront of thier crowd? Good luck Tmac and Yao. Although they can pull an upset, its extremely unlikely that they will win. Denver @ L.A I expect this one to be a close one as the Lakers have something to prove with thier new team and what better way to do it then defeat then defeat one of the most deep teams in the West. However, I believe the Nuggets will win this one and it will bring the wolves out from the media and the attacking on Kobe will begin. I've got a feelign that the Nuggets will pull this one out but once again, I can be wrong. As an L.A fan I certainly hope they open up with a bang and are comfortable in thier first game so we'll see.
I think it was an absolutely stupid decision to start the NBA Season on election night. Lets be real, no one tonight in the entire world could give two cents about basketball. The entire world's eyes look upon the Presidential Election tonight, since its outcome will inpact the entire world. Today is one of those days where basketball becomes non-important in my opinion. In all honesty, I could care less how the Rockets do tonight, all my eyes are on this election.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> How dare you speak for Canadians, who could give two cents about the election? </div> I know you don't actually believe that yourself? America's new president will affect almost every single country in the world and since Canada is the U.S's neighbour and a major trade partner, you know Canadians give more then "two-cents" about the American election. Maybe it's just you who doesn't care. But uh....check your channels, I'm pretty sure you see the election coverage in plenty of Canadian channels including CBC and CP24.
I rocked vote and did not die yesterday. But I was the only friggin young person voting at that time in my city it seemed and no cute girl giving me my ballot like 4 years ago. Anyways TNT did have CNN coverage so it was good that I got to see everything. I can't really bring myself to actually watch CNN which made it easier for me to watch CNN after the games finished. Go Kerry, and I still can't believe Bush is a president. But he is great to crack jokes on since he just a funny looking mo fo. The laugh, the walk, not being able to put a friggin medal on a foreign country leader I believe. Oh that one was classic, they didn't even have to edit out anything on that.

Well, Bush wins. Congratulations on him, the administration, and every one who voted for him. Also to Kerry, which I supported him, deserves credit too. Every one worked extreamly hard on this campaign, and it was a very tight battle.
