I don't know about this. Taylor needs to really focus more on rebounding, that's his big weakness. Offensively, Taylor can play more on the perimeter than Howard, and maybe that's why Van Gundy put him in there -- to give more room for Yao.

    So:
    1. Ward - Lue
    2. McGrady
    3. Jackson
    4. Taylor - Howard
    5. Yao

These 7 players look to be set. Additionally, I'm guessing Nachbar or Bowen will see regular minutes. That's 8. So, will Weatherspoon, Padgett, or Mutombo make it into the regular rotation?

Another reason is maybe the team wanted to let him start to let other teams see his skills to prepare for a trade that might be going down offseason... Just a guess

Yeah, JVG might be trying to boost Taylor's trade value so we might have a PG some time soon.

Well in our 1st reg season game, Taylor didn't do too bad. He grabbed a few important rebounds towards the end, of course it didn't change the outcome, but its good to see.

I'm still not sure if it was the right choice to put him in, because Howard MIGHT have done better, but it's a tough call.

You didn't see the game, so whatever stats you actually saw wasn't really relevant. I don't remember Mo grabbing a few rebounds, just him taking and missing a three, and the ball was somehow tapped towards him, and he moved in a sinked a jumper. However, he wasn't able to buy a jumper from anywhere before then. He did show some hustle on the offensive boards, but IMO, he's still better off coming off the bench.
