Man this was a real blow. I wasn't to surprised of losign to the pistons, but the RAPTORS???? OMG!.. ok so VC is gewd and jalen and marshall maybe have something lefti n em, but COME ON!!! how could we lose? i guess our team on paper is alot different to our team on the court.
Rockets need to trade Taylor or Howard for a defensive PF. Last season rockets were one of the best defensive teams, this year so far they let their opponents shoot 44%. Why do the rockets get so few assists? I think it's because the rockets play 1 on 1 basketball. They either just give it to Yao, or give it to Tmac, and try to score, and if they can't they pass. They don't seem to run around, setting picks and things to get open shots and layups like Uah, Memphis, Sacramento do. I say we should hire an offensive coach to help Van Gundy on offense, and a defensive PF to help Van Gundy on defense. The good news is that, i think Rockets will play better when Yao gets his confidence back from his injury. I know i would be afraid to play if i had to wear a brace on my arm too.
I thought this last year, but I think the Rockets offense is too complicated. They waste 15 seconds setting picks and players just moving from one side of the court to the other. Then, with maybe 8 seconds left, they get the ball to someone and they have to create a shot for themselves. Its an ugly, sluggish way to execute and offense, and this is mainly what I've seen the first two games. Why not get the ball quickly to your main guys, and give him time to make his move and draw a double team, and then kick it out to the open guy? The Rockets keep getting called for illegal picks away from the ball and 3-second violations because they waste so much time on offense.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting YaoMing03-04:</div><div class="quote_post">FIRE JVG. JVG has got to go . Bring in Phil Jackson.</div> that is a good suggestion.
Dont know about firing JVG. He's one of the best coaches in the league and really knows how to play using a big man with a great post up game like Yao. But something has to be done. Charlie Ward is fine. Nice point guard for the kind of game the Rockets want to play. The problem is Yao and McGrady arent shooting enough. Yao isnt getting the ball as much as he's supposed to which is why Francis was traded. Van Gundy should just come down the court give Yao the ball in the post EVERYTIME so that Yao can either score or draw a double team and get the ball to McGrady. As for the defense....I just dont know. Losing Kelvin Cato hurt the defense more than anyone thought it would. The Rockets should not have lost to the Raptors. But they should be able to take on the Grizzlies so have no worries Rocket fans. Gundy will fix everything and you'll be on your way to the second round of the Western Conference Finals.
Unless you guys want a book released about one of your star players, don't hire Phil. :thumbsdow I think Van Gundy can take care of things. It takes time.
Hire Phil if you want wins, and rings. Let's remember, rings are the ultimate goal. Phil is a top coach of all time. Got along with MJ, Pip, and Shaq. Let's not forget, the Lakers were nothing before he molded them into what they were. Somtimes the student thinks they know everything, stops listening to the teacher, and then books get written. However very few players are that immature, and I don't really see Yao ever telling the media that he doesn't like Phil as a person. So there probably wouldn't ever be a book written about it anyway.

Let's not forget that the Lakers were threats in the West, even before the arrival of Shaq (two years before)...and that was with Del Harris. Phil isn't the only successful coach. Popovich and Brown are two others, and there are more that are capable of winning rings. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting Jurassic:</div><div class="quote_post">Somtimes the student thinks they know everything, stops listening to the teacher, and then books get written. T-Mac said it himself...that he had a losing attitude every time he walked out on the court. He said that he expected to lose, and he knew that everyone else did also. The Rockets have lost their first two games. Okay. They lost Francis, Mobley and Cato, and are a revamped team. There's no reason to drop Van Gundy after two games, or even discuss the issue, because it doesn't make sense.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting realdealbneal:</div><div class="quote_post">Do the Lakers have to be brought up in every discussion?</div> What is the last team that Phil coached? Besides, you have no right to talk here. Neither Pop or Brown is going to leave their team to go to (unproven) Houston. Where do you come up with this stuff? We are discussing potential coaches, and neither of those two falls into that category. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Would Phil have written a book about McGrady's position in Orlando, if he was the coach there? It's funny how you will turn into the ultimate hypocrite as long as you are trying (yet failing) to prove a point. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">There's no reason to drop Van Gundy after two games, or even discuss the issue, because it doesn't make sense.</div> Yet you came in here and discussed it, by talking about how Phil would be a bad idea for the team right? Don't get mad just because people respond and disagree with you, especially when you are hating on the second most winningest coach (ring-wise) in NBA history.
I said that there's no reason to talk about Phil Jackson. Van Gundy has been given two games, and has not produced. Big deal. And if there was a thread about coaching changes, it would be different. This thread is about one game, and that's why it's ridiculous to bring up Van Gundy being fired already, based on a November 3rd game and one before that. You say I have no right to talk, but then you say that the Laker fans (but not me) bring up Kobe in every other thread. Why don't I have the right to talk, then? Kobe has nothing to do with the success of the Rockets. Van Gundy does. Yao and McGrady. The entire roster. So when someone makes assumptions that Phil could coach this team better than Van Gundy just based on two games, it's ludicrous. I don't even care much about the Rockets, but I do believe that they can be good. Phil is a mastermind...as far as egos go. Yao doesn't have a huge ego, and will more than likely let McGrady score at will (be it that it's a good or bad decision). Phil controlled the relationship between two egos...Tex Winter applied the triangle...and chemistry was formed. Unless you are suggesting that Phil becomes the assistant coach, then it's unnecessary. Van Gundy should be given a chance, simple as that.

realbneal... stop being so bitter by going into non-laker thread just to take cheap shots at Phil Jackson. Jurassic... stop taking cheap shots at a laker fanatic in a non-laker thread. You guys even said you don't care about the Rockets. <strike>Now take your childish asses somewhere else and I better not see any of you posting in a Rockets thread anymore.</strike> What's the point posting in one if you're just gonna be <strike>retarded</strike> about it? <font color="red"><font size="-2">Personal attacks will not be tolerated. Why hire Phil, when he deals with egos? That's my point. Don't act like you're superior over anyone else and telling others to leave threads, because it's not going to happen. And by the way, if my intentions were to go into this thread to take shots at Phil, I would write up a longer post than what I did. I don't think it's fair to say that Van Gundy should be fired, that's all. I said I don't care much about the Rockets...meaning I don't like them as much as I do other teams...but they are still a concern because they can be a threat in the West. So obviously, your assumption was wrong about me coming in here for no reason.
Cool it all three of you. This thread was about the game last night and someone just had to start it with a immature fire Van Gundy post. I thought you guys would have had better sense to go at each other. I will not allow this to go on. <font color="red">THREAD LOCKED</font>
