<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">He was ranked a lowly 41st on The Sporting News' list of best NBA players, a shocking placing that had Carter's teammates defending him long and loud yesterday. "It's easy to kick people when they're down," Jalen Rose told reporters at the Air Canada Centre yesterday. "I can't name 41 players that are better than Vince Carter, or Jalen Rose for that matter." Some teammates think Carter can use the unscientific ranking as motivation for the coming season. "Oh my goodness," said Chris Bosh. "He's been one of the premier players in the league and for people to rank him that low, that's kind of like a slap in the face. "But at the same time, it may be motivation for him to pick his game up, just go out there and have a will to kill every night, show people he still is one of the best players in the league."</div> http://www.thestar.com/NASApp/cs/ContentSe...tacodalogin=yes
its kind of a joke. 41st? i mean, he's obviously not a top 10 player...but arguably a top 15 player for sure. whoever that writer is, obviously has it in for vince
You gotto to be kidding me. 41st?? How is this possible. I dont understand this. Vince is better than that. Much better. I think the writer will have to eat his words even before All-Star weekend. Vince will show that he is a Top 15 player
Again.. this is probably Dave Feschuk's cousin writing that crap... Watch when the writer is asked why he ranked Carter that low, he's gonna say something like "Because he asked for a trade, because he got into trouble with law (even though it wasn't his fault), and because he hates Carter. Some people never learn.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">"I can't name 41 players that are better than Vince Carter, or Jalen Rose for that matter."</div> Can someone tell me if he was joking or not, because without actually seeing him speak, it's hard to tell. I hope he's not serious though because not only is he NOT a top 41 player in this league (at this point in his career), but he's also not good enough to be speaking in the third person. I'm not trying to downplay his worth in any way because I still think he plays a huge role on this team, but c'mon, for him to be THAT cocky, that's just funny. As for VC being at #41, that's just ridiculous. Even some of the most avid Carter haters wouldn't place him nearly that low.
Yeea, he's nowhere near top 5, but I would easily put him in the top 20. Maybe this will show Carter how low his reputation is right now. This is the kind of news that players use to motivate themselves, but Idunno how Carter will take it.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> KG, Shaq, Duncan, Kobe, Yao, Pierce, McGrady </div> I don't believe Yao deserves to be there YET. I would take J.O'Neal or even Ben Wallace over him. Yao is top 10 material, not top 5 IMO. Top 5 in my eyes is: Kevin Garnett, Tim Duncan, Shaq, Kobe and T-Mac. Vince Carter meanwhile is top 15 or 20. I mean, he has fell off but not that much to the point where he's 41st. If you have seen him play recently you would know that he is an excellent shooter and though he doesn't drive as much, he is a great playmaker and is actually one of the franchise (though I really believe it will be Bosh's team after next year) players who does not need to take 50 shots a game to lead his team to victory yet will score when neccesary. He scores when it is needed and demands the ball when it is needed and yes, is still one of the most clutch players in the game. He has faith in his teammates and though sometimes I wish he would be more selfish and more "franchise player"-like, I am glad he has matured his game from just a scoring guard to an overall combo/playmaking guard. I would still rather have the 2001 Vince playing but times are changing and I think he knows that with the current roster he has, alot of the scoring tensions are eased off him since we have enough scorers. As long as the Raptors are winning, I'm fine with Vince's low-key yet highly effective play. When he needs to step it up for the team, I believe he will. It's a shame that this author bases his "analysis" on absolutely nothing but Vince's reputation in America. Has he even watched a game with Vince in it in the past year? I don't care how ridiculous Rose's comments may seem, I am glad he is supporting Vince. Like he said, they are kicking him while he's down. Vince has enough things to fuel him right now and hopefully he will play with more of a passion this year then previous years since he has more of a point to prove then ever before.
"KG, Shaq, Duncan, Kobe, Yao, Pierce, McGrady" Kobe, Shaq, Tmac, KG, Duncan and Vince Pierce is great don't get me wrong but Vince proved in the playoffs in 2001 that he is one of the best talents out there. Pierece was great in 2002 playoffs but Vince clearly was better. Yao???? I dunno man.....I just dont see how he is better than Vince when he is healthy So I will retract my statement. Vince is top 10 material. Top 6 for me. He looks healthy this year. People who disagree, check out Vince in 2001. If that's not top 5 then I dont know what is. He looks very much like that so far.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Streetball2k3:</div><div class="quote_post">KG, Shaq, Duncan, Kobe, Yao, Pierce, McGrady. Enough said for the comment by Maxamillion.</div> Maybe not Yao, and Pierce is about the same level as Carter, but what about the other big men, JO, Brand, Dirk, and Jason Kidd, and Baron Daivis is about the same level too. Carter is not top 10 right now, just outside, between 12-20.
vince is not far off top 10. i posted a top 50 a little while ago but i think i should change it. as far as i'm concerned the only players that are clear cut better are shaq, duncan and kg. kobe, magrady, ak47, vince are the next 4 in whatever order you please. Yao is not a top 10 player.
oh and also i wouldnt call it ridiculous to say jalens in the top 50. not high on it...not after the last few years he's had. but i'd still say he's in it.

Also, Pierce is better now than he was in 2002... (and will be even better with Doc supporting him.)
Vince is definitely a top 15 and possibly top 10 player, That guys crazy and I agree with Rose you probably cant even name 41 players better than Rose. Rose is still good, he can still play.
For the record, I could easily name 41 players better than Jalen Rose. I think it's funny that he made that comment. As for VC, he isn't really a top player anymore. They are plently of guys that can score 25 on any given night, and every young guy coming in can dunk. There isn't really anything that separates VC from the masses, other than the fact that he was on the cover of NBA Live last year. Granted, a ranking of 41 is harsh, I agree.

^ i'd like to see it....but i bet the last 10 you mention would be preference.....some people might prefer rose. there are only about 25 or 30 clear cut great players in the nba
