I'd say DUncan. I'd trust duncan more in tight situation than KG. I have to say KG has more skills, but Duncan poses a bigger presence in the post. Trust me on this, im a big KG fan, but i have to say it goes to Duncan. During last years playoff, both DUncan and garnett was limited by Malone. The two of them broke the old man down, allowing Detroit to get a easy win.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Ace2k2:</div><div class="quote_post">Reason for Tim Duncan: Able to win 2 championships with just role players. Never had an all star on the team other than him whe nhe won those championships. Timmy is able to win with role players. KG is just not. KG had sam Cassell last year(top 3 point guard) and LAtrell Sprewell(good scorer). KG still couldnt win. THat is the difference here. TImmy is a better leader. MAny people may argue but Timmy is not an emotional leader, he is always clam and never gets frustrated like most players. Tim Duncan in my mind is right up there with Charles Barkley and Karl Malone for the best power forwards the gam has ever known. Timmy is even better than them. And his career still aint over.</div> KG had his All-Star help go down with an injury and wasn't able to play and we didn't have a back-up because he was injured also. KG plays the point too? Wow. Oh yeah, "Tim was able to win both championships with only role players". Guess David Robinson was just a nobody who stood in the lane and did nothing and fooled everyone into thinking he was one of the 50 greatest players ever. Defense wins championships and Robinson was one of the reasons that the Spurs could even compete deep in the playoffs. Oh yeah, Spree is a good scorer, and so is Ginobli. So at this time, you need to use other facts that so call make Tim better. KG didn't have much help and was beaten by a team with 4 future Hall-Of-Famers.
i have a hard time looking at it like Duncan has championships. its the luck of the team you were put on. Give garnett the team duncan had and he could probably make them BETTER, because skill wise Garnett is just better. Duncan had Robinson. Garnett had Nestorovic,O.Miller,E.Johnson pick one. Advantage Duncan...my reasoning....Robinson is a hall of famer...and also scored 71 points in a game. Nuff Said. The 3 Garnett has played with probably couldnt hit 71 combined in a season. Duncan had Steve Kerr and Steve Smith. 2 Marksmen from downtown. Wont Miss IN The Clutch. His bench was also deep as hell. Garnett has yet to have his set core that is built for a championship. Like right now, everyone demanding more money, playing like crap, no legit center.....Skill wise.. Garnett is better, and if Garnett was on Duncans team n Duncan was on Garnett's, Garnett would most likely have the Rings Duncan has today

Wrong, Duncan's post game is what got the Spurs two championships. As good as KG is, his back to the basket game is not even close to TD's. The fact you think the Spurs roster was/is that much better not counting Duncan than the Wolves is laughable. Duncan has always had role players and nothing more. David is a legend of the game but was on the way down in 2002 and missed plenty of games during that season. He did score 71 points in a game but that was in his prime, not past It. Robinson was a soild center who could play defense and rebound but numbers wise Rasho has replaced Robinson well. As for Kerr and Smitty, those guys hardly ever played during that championship run. Both were way past their primes even though Kerr did play in game 6 of the Dallas series. Parker was a role player, still a very soild point guard but he did make alot of mistakes which was to be expected for a young guy. Manu was just a rookie. Garnett's lack of success has nothing to do with bad players around him, he had Wally an all-star and Troy Hudson are very good shooting point guard along side him. A very soild center in Marc Jackson and some good shooters like Antony Peeler to open up the floor. Fact is Duncan is so good because of the way he can score inside and draw fouls, KG's points are hardly ever in the paint. They are all basic jump shots and fade-aways. Duncan has won titles due to his post game not because of who else he has around him. Duncan would of killed to have a guy like Sprewell as his 2nd option, nevermind Sam Cassell. Garnett just couldn't carry them to the finals. And to be honest his chance with the current roster is coming to an end.
I think Garnett is the better player, he is more clutch IMO and he is only getting better. TD is prone to injuries and I wouldnt trust him at the end of the game, as for Garnett will win you games and sooner or later he will win you championships. Duncan has had some help Robinson, Manu, Parker, Elliot, and such. Last year was Garnett's first year with Cassell and Spree, but Duncan still had more help with the younger and quicker Manu and Parker.
Duncan has a more polished post game and he's a better offensive rebounder. Garnett is a bit more mobile on the defensive end, and he's better facing the basket on offense. I'll give the edge to the reigning MVP, but its pretty close.
I would take Duncan, if I wanted to build up a team. Garnett has good players around him, and brings everything he's got to the table. Duncan, you never know, it's not inconsistency, the guy just doesn't talk. He too, has better, younger players IMO. It comes straight down to the rings. Duncan has them, Garnett doesn't. Garnett may be able to beat Duncan one-on-one, but Duncan, at this current moment, has something in his favour. Luck, skill, whatever. But he is the better player.
Tim Duncans the smarter player..and the things he does are impossible to stop. He's also more of a low post scorer..which are rare, adn their arent many good big men in the league left to shut him down. I think KG is more skilled...but i think Duncan's brains and his cool put him above KG. Also i think people are crazy if they think the Spurs have and did have a better roster than the Wolves. Maybe, the were even or very close back when the Spurs one their rings...but they werent that much worse.
