i think its a good deal for the 76ers. i think over the years Iverson has gotten better at passing, and with Webber there it should be better. They've got some other good guys like Korver. Sixers will compete in the east. of course its the east

Quality players Iverson has had around him: Tim Thomas - Not a great player but a legitimate 2nd option Toni Kukoc - you can say what you want but he averaged 14 points/11 PPG while he was in city and shot a better % than iverson. Keith Van Horn - He is a better 1st option than Iverson Aaron Mckie - Injuries hampered him the last few years, but for a 2 year stretch he was a legitimate #2 Speedy Claxton - He couldnt could co-exist with the "mad bomber" but was a quality player also Matt Harpring - capable of averging 17 a game. averaged 11 in philly, left "Me, Myself, and Iverson" behind and his scoring average and FG % rocketed in a team oriented system. Jim Jackson - Only thing this guy does is score, though it was a brief stay in philly(Iverson was concerned about a better scorer?) Jerry Stackhouse - Iverson drove him away. Of course i have only listed the ones who are decent NBA scorers. He has always had tons of defensive talent around him like Eric Snow, and Theo Ratliff. Plus, who knows how many players his shoot 1st mentality kept from shining cuz they never saw the ball at decent times when iverson jacked up some stupid shot. For every assist he has in his career, he has 2 shots he should never thought about taking. So if your defense for him being unselfish is that he has 7 assists a game, it is cuz the defense is solely focused on him, and the 9 times a game the ball escapes the black hole, they are bound to score cuz everyone expected Iverson to shoot.

Yes, AI takes a lot of shot, the fact is most players cant handle taking that many. Name another player 5'11" tall weights 150lbs that can handle driving to the hole as much as he does. You make it sound like all he does is take jump shots, this guy spend more time in the lane then anyone. You are not giving him enough respect.
If he is driving the lane he should shoot better than 41%. That is my problem with him. He is very good defensively for a guy his size, he is one of the toughest players in the league. But what are we talking about here, too many shots, we talking about too many shots. I dont know if there is another player that does, but he is hurting his team with his shot selection. I think he could average 12 asssists and score the same amount of points, but he is too selfish.

The only reason this guy is still around is because NBA has guaranteed contacts. Teams cant wait to get rid of him. Mutombo was good the year we went to the finals, but his career was pretty much over by then. Look at him now, he barely gets on the court at all. This is not the Mutombo that was getting defensive player of the year awards year after year, his play really did go down, and he got way to slow. Glenn Robinson didnt even play this year, not because he was injured but because he was such a little bitch. He cant play defense, and is a perfect example of a fact that stats mean shit. We traded him for Rodney Rogers and a guy with one leg (Mashburn) Check this out, Since AI has been here we have been to the playoffs every year besides his rookie year and last year. Thats 7 out of 9 years. Thats pretty good, and for every one of those teams he was the centerpiece. He has 3 scoring titles, and MVP title. everything besides and NBA title. You watch, he will do all he can this year to win. Just look at the game on Saturday, he had 29 points and 15 assists. Thats a good game. When Webber gets more used to playing on the Sixers, this will be a hard team to beat. Right now we are 3rd team in the East behind Miami and Detroit, I cannot wait for the playoffs. It certainly helps the Super Bowl hangover.
