The sixers need to get a big man. Remember the year when the sixers went to the finals, we had a mediocre center (Mutombo) and we went all the way to the finals. The biggest mistake we did was trade Ratliff, and without learning from our mistakes we traded Mutombo. I think if we had a legitimate center we would easily be top 3 in the east. We should trade Robinson for Theo Ratliff or some good center.
Exactly. Theo Ratliff would be perfect, but I think we would have a hard time retrieving him. However, we do have Samuel Dalembert but he is a work in progress and he's just not well rounded enough to have an impact as Mutumbo had. When he(Dalembert) does become that special player, our main guy (Iverson) will be done by then, possible retirement or no longer that dynamo that he once was. But looking out current roster, Kenny Thomas is an undersized PF, and Marc Jackson is tough but has short arms and doesn?t have the defensive awareness and low post presence that will intimidate many teams. Mutumbo not only averaged many blocks for us, but his presence alone forced three missed/adjusted shots without him moving a limb. That?s what we need again in order to be legitimate Eastern Conference contenders. I was very optimistic about this team, but I?ll be honest I?m not very optimistic about this team success was I once was. Don?t get me wrong, I still have high hopes for this team but thinking realistically the 76ers are going to have to work very, very hard to have a successful season.
I agree 100%. Although I think Iverson WILL retire BEFORE he gets into the position where he isn't as explosive as he once was. Much like what Jordan did except he isn't going to come back.

They also thought they got a decent center in Todd MacChulloch, and a promising draft choice in Dalembert. Little did they no KVH was not as good as they thought he was, Machulloch would retire, and Dalembert wasn't as NBA ready as they thought. I think once Dalembert develops more he can fill in that hole the sixers lack.
Most teams look bad when they play Phoenix or Detroit. I would wait for at least a few more games before passing judgement. If they win 3 in a row, you will be talking NBA Championship. Cool it.
No one is jumping to conclusions. Except maybe Avery. I'm just saying we need a Big man. Hopefully Dalembert is the key.
I could see the 76ers making a stupid move to get Mourning and then health issues come into his play again.

Actually, Mourning would be a nice addition to the Sixers if he stayed healthy. And, considering his buyout (if it came) he could be had for a relatively small contract and possibly for only 1 year. But, that would be dreaming I guess.
Ratliff would be perfect, if the sixers still had ratliff he would not only help on the court but he would be a great center for Sammy to learn off of.
I actually think we are kinda ok for now at the Center postion, Jackson and then a spark off the bench from Sammie.
It dissapointed me when Sammy didn't break the starting lineup for the season opener. I really like how he palyed last year

By then, we would have a great roster full of athletic and prime players so we should be in good shape then. Yeah, I would like to have Ratliff so that Dalembert can develop more and would probably be a great trade for us with Robinson. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">It dissapointed me when Sammy didn't break the starting lineup for the season opener. Dalembert will definitely break the starting lineup during this season.
