<div class="quote_poster">Quoting dc slaughter:</div><div class="quote_post">Today it really has come down to flamboyant dunks by 6'6" guards. Nobody cares if a big man does a great post move nowadays. It's just not as exciting.

On my 6th grade team, everyone wants to be center, the position I play. I don't know why, maybe because they hate being short. The sad thing is, none of them are going to grow to be 6'10". I doubt I will. I might be 6'7". Might be.

But the lack of big men is probably from A) lack of interest OR [IMG] nobody can really grow to be a 7-footer anymore.</div>

What are you serious trust me people arent getting smaller all races and most generation wil lconitnue to get bigger and bigger.

It seems theres alot of great centers in the making. Dalembert, Dwight Howard, Stoudamire, Yao, Bosh etc. But yeah I miss when there was so many great centers.

Bosh Amare and Howard are all power forwards they do not have really the size physically to play center in the league. Amare does, but I dont think he will ever switch to center. Bosh is a premier power forward of the future, and his tone of muscle is very low set so I dont see him switching to center, and Howard has already said he would play center if the team needs him to, but he really would preffer to remain a power forward, and with cato and battie it looks like he is going to continue to be a power forward.

I think the game has became more of a run and gun style, when it used to be mostly a half court offense setup 90% of the time. My idea of the perfect tempo would be 60% half court setup 40% Transition/run and gun.

Basically if you have to set up a half court offense and the team has a semi-effective/effective big man the team should go to him and let him create. While the guards game is in transition when they can use their quickness to get easy points.

I'm hoping Howard, Okafor, Bosh and Yao will bring the slow down style back to the leauge.

Amare can bang and play the 5
however at 6'10", he may have to worka bit harder for his buckets and boards

Shaq is the only true bigman left in the league.

YAo- not a true center, shoots jump shots from a good deal of distance and he isn't agressive enough. He may become a true center but isnt close to it yet.
Ben Wallace- a true center needs some sort of offensive game.
Howard- not a center, possible for him to still grow as he is young, he has good potential.
Amare-not a center can only play against scrub centers.
    Okafor- too small.
Jaamal Magloire- he plays like a true center, but he isnt yet a true center as he is not that good.

Shaq is the only center left of the age of centers. Shaq makes the Miami a half court team, and thats what a lot of theo ther centers like the admiral, Hakeem, Ewing, etc. did.

i believe that maamal magloire is on his way to being a true center, despite his lack of sizing compartivily to shaq or yuao.
