The NFL is the premiere winter sport, not the NBA.

I miss the NHL. Hockey is my favorite sport and i've been playing since I was 6, however the lockout isn't as bad as all the hockey haters are making it out to be, if anything the lockout is GOOD for the sport in America. There has been a youth hockey explosion in the USA since the lockout began, since kids can no longer watch hockey on TV guess what they're doing now? PLAYING IT! The lockout, while it's bad for the overpaid million dollar athletes, it's great for the sport as a whole. There have been more new USA Hockey youth and adult memberships in the past 4 months than there have been in the past five years. It's a very noticeable difference, I play in an adult league in Florida and there used to be 6 teams in the league with about 10 players on each team, since the lockout began there are now 22 teams in my league... and this is in Florida, I can only imagine the boom that hockey markets in places like Minnesota, New York and New England have been experiencing. The lockout is the best thing to happen to American hockey since Wayne Gretzky was traded to the Kings. I don't think anyone could have even predicted the lockout would have had such a profound impact on American hockey like it has.

As far as the NHL goes, virtually all teams have been showing classic games from their teams history on TV on nights that there would have been scheduled games during this season, so if someone wants to watch great quality hockey, they can. Also, you can watch the AHL, many players not including the superstars that are playing overseas are now in the AHL and people are following the AHL affiliates of their NHL teams religiously.

Certainly i would like to see Hockey back on track,as the Bay Area doesn't have the Sharks to play around this year. The fact of the matter is Downtown San Jose where the Shark Tank is at,looks dead,as the business down in that area are losing money.see in the wintertime,Downtown San Jose is booming because of the Sharks, and the Resturants,Hotels,Shops in that area are really taking a hard boom,so already some markets are feeling the effects of the NHL strike.

If the NFL isn't the most popular US Sport in the winter,it'll go to the NBA,but Hockey seems to me it isn't as popular here in the states as it is in Canada.

Hopefully the Owners and Players will try to resolve their respective issues in the future.
