He did very well last night and Im not sure that Marc Jackson can contain a great veteran like Alonzo. Iverson wont have a problem scoring on Jacque Vaughn or Zoran Planinic (whoever starts) nor will Willie Green have trouble either. Id say Iverson has about 35/4/10 for Iverson this game while Green scores about 16. Them 2 will be the leading scorers Im sure while Iguodala will have a hard time scoring against Richard Jefferson. Hopefully Iggy can handle Jefferson while Marc Jackson and Kenny T try to contain the veteran. If all of this happens, Im almost positive the Sixers will get a win against the Kiddless Nets. If we dont win against the Nets...there is something wrong. I predict Sixers by 15 unless Alonzo and Jefferson score big.
Not really sure on this one because the Sixers have been playing like crap and turnovers are killing us. Starting to think that AI at point guard is a mistake.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Starting to think that AI at point guard is a mistake.</div> That should be the last of our concerns. Iverson has been playing great at the PG slot, it's the other players whom aren't hitting their perimeter shot sand it's the TEAM perimeter defense that's been lacking. If the 76ers can pick up on those two things and trimming down the turnover tally I think we could go 4-1 or possibly 5-0 (Artest will be listed as DNP for the game against the 76ers, so that?s a major plus) in the 5 game homestand. As for tonight?s game, I'm going with 76ers by 7.
I guess your right, I seen 9 to's and was like WTF. I'm still just a little pissed at the start of a possibly horrible season. (I stress - possibly)
Right now it seems it may be a long season, its early but you can already see that players like Willie Grenn are making bad turnovers, to not just be dissing Willie the whole team is turning the ball over a lot, AI had 9-10 TO's against the Knicks The supporting cast like Marc Jackson and Willie Grenn just havent really gotten into the mix yet,Jackson plays like he is tired all the time and he is often getting beat on defense, you can tell he cant handle playing big minutes at center.Willie is just making bad turnovers and is doing a poor job selecting his shots. The Sixers really need a win here, at home aginst the shorthanded Nets I bealieve they should come out with the W.AI will probaly have a big game but someone needs to step it up their game, maybe AI needs to call them out like he did last year.
Sixers win 108-100 in OT...IVERSON HITS THE FADEAWAY WITH 7 SECONDS LEFT TO MAKE IT GO INTO OT!!!!! YAY!!!!!! Iverson: 26 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists!
Jersey straight choke that game away, 4 straight misses at the free throw line. That game should have been over during regulation. But I ve give credit because they missed all their free throws early but made the ones down the stretch in crunch time regulation and Overtime. While the Nets did the exact opposite.
Good win by the 76ers, however I wasn't quite happy with this win at all. Let's face it; the Nets had this game won. On any day by any given team, that team would have knock down at least 1 of the 4 FT's that was missed by Jefferson and Mourning and if Jefferson or Mourning was able to knock down at least 1 FT, the game entire complexion would have shifted. But then again those missed FT?s is what comes with the territory in the game of basketball. But the fact of us barely winning a game against the NJ Nets is disappointing for us and especially for the expectations we had for this team. Btw, no disrespect to the Nets because if anything they should be happy regardless if they lost, because they put up a great fight and unfortunately for them they just slipped off in OT. Well, in the Atlantic Division there are three teams that are unanimously the best teams in the East, and there is one vacant spot left. And if the 76ers want to be that 4th best team in the East, they need to get better. Well unlike I've done before, I won't jump to conclusions because I realize that this squad is still a work in progress and there is still much more to be learned under O'Brien. However, from what I've seen thus far I have not been impressed. But on brighter side the 76ers are now currently 1-0 in their longest homestand of the season, and if they want to head on the road with a good mentality they have to make sure they get nothing less of a 3-2 record. On a side note, this team really needs Dalembert back in action. Like Ian Eagle(Nets Broadcast Commentator) mentioned during the game? the 76ers are the shortest team in the NBA. Now in a time like this, where big men are the deciding factors in many games and we?ve had success with a legitimate big man on the team, this mishap is heavily not in our favor. Our ?big guys? are giving it their all, but they have short arms and are giving way too many second chance opportunity. And am I alone on this one? But would anyone like to have seen Robinson on the floor during a couple stretches of that game because the 76ers perimeter shooting even Iverson on this occasion was looking very streaky and inconsistent once again. Also... <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">76ers guard/forward Aaron McKie strained his left rotator cuff during Wednesday's game against the Nets. He will undergo an MRI on Thursday, and head coach Jim O'Brien told the Philadelphia Inquirer that McKie could miss seven-to-10 days.</div> <div align="center">Link</div> That's very unfortunate. By the looks of last night's ame it looked as if they was trying to get hom more involved in the offense. I really hope McKie gets better because we're going to need him.
yes, after the third game i new glenn robinson shud be starting at sf no matter how good andre is doing becuase our shooting is just not good enuf.i have no idea about sammy d's situation. is he injuried? or is obie just not playing him?
Dalembert strained his right hamstring. Even though we won this game and we deffintly needed a win, I am also not satisifed with this victory. The Nets are a shorthanded team muhc like we are, but when it comes down to it we just have the better players and we should have won in regulation.
yea kenny thomas is underperforming, willie green is underporming, and marc jackson is still pretty inconsistent at times
O'Brien seems to be splitting time between all of the big men, which is probably smart to do seeing is they have their greatest depth at that position (centers are a scarcity, and we know that.) My comments = don't sign tall 76ers to your fantasy teams ! ! !
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Avery:</div><div class="quote_post">76ers perimeter shooting even Iverson on this occasion was looking very streaky and inconsistent once again.</div> Well Iverson is shooting 45% so far...I think hes done his job. His teammates need to learn how to step up and help out with this 76ers team. Never have they stepped up when games get to the wire. I mean cmon...Iverson had to hit the fadeaway with 7 seconds to tie the game and put it into OT. Iverson is doing great with his scoring and assists and being a leader but keep Iverson's 29 ppg and 7 apg and have another person like Willie Green or Kenny Thomas to score at least over 17 ppg for cryin out loud.
