After watching Atkins and TBrown implode in the fourth quarter last night, I know the Lakers need to make a pitch for JKIdd asap. He and his wife would put LA at the top of their list, if LA can just get the Nets attention for a trade. What can we offer that will cover his salary and not completely empty the bench? We need a point guard that requires the defense to play him so Kobe can get open and a pg that will provide a steadying influence. Kidd is the missing piece, cmon Mitch, do your job for a change and get out there and get this done!

I was one of the people that wanted Jason Kidd, but now that I think about it, we shouldn't take a risk on getting him. For what purpose? To help out New Jersey by paying him the rest of his contract when it's not certain whether he can go a full 82 games? Let's not forget, he may be Jason Kidd, one of the best point guards in the game today, but with his injury plagues, that's a serious question mark I don't think we want to pursue. Thanks but no thanks.
New Jersey trades: PG Jason Kidd (15.5 ppg, 6.4 rpg, 9.2 apg in 36.5 minutes) C Alonzo Mourning (8.0 ppg, 2.3 rpg, 0.7 apg in 17.9 minutes) New Jersey receives: PF Brian Grant (8.7 ppg, 6.9 rpg, 0.9 apg in 30.3 minutes) SF Devean George (7.4 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 1.4 apg in 23.8 minutes) PF Chris Mihm (6.3 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 0.3 apg in 17.5 minutes) SF Caron Butler (9.2 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 1.9 apg in 29.8 minutes) Change in team outlook: +8.1 ppg, +12.4 rpg, and -5.4 apg. L.A. Lakers trades: PF Brian Grant (8.7 ppg, 6.9 rpg, 0.9 apg in 30.3 minutes) SF Devean George (7.4 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 1.4 apg in 23.8 minutes) PF Chris Mihm (6.3 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 0.3 apg in 17.5 minutes) SF Caron Butler (9.2 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 1.9 apg in 29.8 minutes) L.A. Lakers receives: PG Jason Kidd (15.5 ppg, 6.4 rpg, 9.2 apg in 67 games) C Alonzo Mourning (8.0 ppg, 2.3 rpg, 0.7 apg in 12 games) Change in team outlook: -8.1 ppg, -12.4 rpg, and +5.4 apg. TRADE ACCEPTED Due to New Jersey and L.A. Lakers being over the cap, the 15% trade rule is invoked. New Jersey and L.A. Lakers had to be no more than 115% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Why would the Lakers trade 4 players for two old injured guys? The reason is because this trade will dump Brian Grant's HUGE contract. They also lose Devean George, who doesnt seem like he will get any playing time this season. This trade is practically Chris Mihm and Caron Butler for Jason Kidd and Alonzo Mourning. Zo's health seems pretty good so far, and he can give u 12/6 on a nightly basis. This is to back up Vlade Divacs. If Zo's health improves more,he can play more minutes and maybe become a 16/10 player. Jason Kidd, injured. People are afraid that he will not be any good when he returns. Let me tell you, even if he doesnt go back to how he was before, he will still be better than what the Lakers have right now. Chucky Atkins? Sasha Vujavic? And if Jason Kidd does return to what he was before the injury, then the Lakers will become championship contenders right away. PG - Jason Kidd/Chucky Atkins SG - Kobe Bryant/Kareem Rush SF - Jumaine Jones/Luke Walton PF - Lamar Odom/Brian Cook C - Vlade Divac/Alonzo Mourning I dont know about you, but this lineup looks pretty impressive. The Nets would do this trade to get rid of an unhappy Alonzo Mourning, and Jason Kidd, who no one knows how much the injury will affect his game in the future. Also, he is getting old. Since the Nets are rebuilding, they will get Caron Butler and Chris Mihm, 2 young players who could blossom in NJ since there really is no "goto-guy" except RJ. This would give them both a chance to show what they've got. In LA, they wouldn't get this chance because of Kobe and Odom. NJ also needs a banger. Brian Grant provides this. Devean George will provide the Nets will a spark off the bench with a trey here and there, and a few nice dunks. He will not get the chance to play in LA, behind Kobe, Rush, Jumaine Jones, and Luke Walton. PG - Travis Best/Jacque Vaughn SG - Richard Jefferson/Devean George SF - Caron Butler/Eric Williams PF - Brian Grant/Aaron Williams/Brian Scalabrine C - Chris Mihm/Nenad Krstic The Nets would have a relativly young team, with a few veterans to provide leadership.
The Nets would never do this trade. They get pretty much nothing for Jason Kidd. Odom atleast has to be included.
