I just can't help thinking how much better the Warriors would be if they didn't lose Arenas. Even the though the wizards are in the Eastern Conference, I think that if they had kept the lineup from two years ago, the warriors would have been a playoff team this year. Sadly with the luck of the warriors we're looking at another decade of mediocrity.

I wish I could think positive.
Murphy is just terrible now that he thinks he's a superstar now jacking up every shot he can get.

J-rich, I still have faith in him to play better than he has so far but I know that he will never be a superstar. I gave that up after year two. I think the reason was becuase he used to be a forward. The fact that he's in the last couple of years had to learn to play SG, basically made that possiblilty impossible.

Plus the warriors have two long term contracts with Fisher and Foyle into their mid thirties. I liked the Foyle signing at first though.

Anyways the Warriors are going to need to rebuild once again.

Sorry for the long rant. I just needed to express my disappointment for Mullin's moves. I was optimistic going into the year, despite some of his moves especially firing Musselman. I felt was the key to the warriors sucess the past two years.

What would it have been like if Murphy and Jrich played like this before we signed them to their extensions? That would have humbled those guys up QUICK! Now we are over paying for them. Murphy looks horrible, Jrich looks better than Murphy, but worse since he was even better before. Dunleavy is looking like he is playing the best out of our big 3. We cant look back on the Arenas deal. It was impossible to work. Besides, I think we are better off with out him. He is not doing jack on the Wizards. Now the Mussleman move, I am even more critical of now since the horrible play. That is really, the only thing that has changed since last season that could possibly be effecting the Warriors so badly.

I don't know why Mullin flet so inclined to sign them to those deals and for that matter Fisher and Foyle.

I think that Mullin just tried to hard to win this year.

THe reason I said if we kept arenas was becuase that was the event that changed the direction of team. We would still have had Jamison and basically same team a team that was exciting and could win.

1. Mullin really never considered resigning Dampier and went straight to Foyle. Now, Dampier is still putting close to double double (9.4/9.8), while Foyle still plays like he is backing up Dampier. And, Dampier is only getting 2 more mils per year than Foyle.

2. Sure, Muss might not be loved by players and his tactics may not be visible. But, for some reason, we were competitive for 90% of the games and scrapped 38 and 37 wins, despite suffering many injuries. And, it's not like we lost a lot of talents. Yes, we lost Dampier and Cardinals. But, we also gained Fisher, Murphy, Davis and Najera, so it's not like we lost much, if any. Currently, we allow other teams to shoot 47% and we shoot less than 37%. So, we are not either scoring or defending at all. I am still giving Monty a benefit of doubt, since it only has been 5 games.

3. With Jamison, we were one of top scoring team. Without a Jamison, we can't drop a bucket. Yes, Jamison is overpaid and I am not a big fan of Arenas either. So, we traded Jamison and decided not to promise Arenas for his future extension contract to have cap flexibility... only to overpay Richardson and Murphy. I would definitely choose Jamison/Arenas combo than Richardson/Murphy combo. And, they are only 3 mils per year more expensive than our current combo.

Arg. Just give us one win to ease this pain...

I agree with you Kwan. I was thinking along the same lines as you. I just couldn't say it as well as you.

Man... I don't know what really went wrong. Just one year ago, our future looked so good. Jamison/Arenas/Muss made this team 2nd in scoring (worst in defense though [IMG]) Even after losing Arenas or trading Jamison, we still had a bright future. This team played hard every night (and increased attendance proves it), had no long contract, would have had tons of caproom, and filled with young talents. It felt like we could reach PO and far more in near future...

Now, our financial situation is completely frozen for at least next 4 years, we fed two hungry hawks, (Richardson, Murphy and contract years) and now they are playing like CBAers, this current team (supposely challening PO spot) play like they lost something, has worst shooting % and 22nd at opp. shooting %. I don't think (and desperately hope) this will continue, but it doesn't look like PO is anything but dream. And, my confidence on Mullin is close to Twerdzik at this point...

I think if things don't start turning around soon, we should all boycott. Everyone should just refuse to go to warrior games. No way will we be worse than the clippers for the next six years.

I expressed my displeasure after Arenas's was let go by Golden State and this forum assured me that it was an attempt to move salaries in hopes of putting their franchise in a postion to obtain key free agents in the future. However with the signings of Derek Fisher and Speedy Claxton, than with the extensions of Murphy, Richardson, and Foyle, I simply don't see Golden State freeing up enough cap space to replace the talent they've lost over the years, nevermind contending for a championship.

Seriously, at one point Golden State had Mike Dunleavy, Erick Dampier, Jason Richardson, Gilbert Arenas, Troy Murphy, Jiri Welsch, and Antawn Jamison along with more depth coming off their bench. Your telling me with ALL of their draft selections and that amount of talent lying around, they couldn't have built a serious contender with a few trades, tweaks, and signings? Instead they opted to scrap the entire project, shipping off Jamison and Arenas and replacing them with the Nick Van Exel's and Clifford Robinson's of the world. I just don't understand what is going through the heads of Golden State's brass, they seriously need to revaluate their goals before their stadium turns into a facsimile of Atlanta's.

*cough* Chris Webber *cough*

Did I say that? Opps...

thats what i thought too. I was really suprised by how muc they spent on Murphy and Richardson and Fisher.
I thought the FOyle signing was necessary though

Still early in the Season guys, thing will materialize. I don't think Dampier is all that much better than Foyle. I think you guys are overrating him. Just give Foyle some more time. He's beginning to come back. Look around the league guys. There are a bunch of team that are supposed to be great, but look at them now. Losing.

I guess its just the way they've been losing games that bothers me the most. Last year they would find ways to keep it close.

Also having these early setbacks hurts the teams chemistry. I think if they started off the season well they could recover through a bad stretch

I don't know, something tells me this team is going to grow together and get better as the season progresses. We get the losing streak out of the way now, and hopefully it's all uphill from here. Virtually new team, new coach, and new front office and the growing pains have to happen sometime.

I dont like how we signed Fisher for 6 year. It should have only been about 4 years MAX.

a team now on

Arenas
Richardson
Jamison
Murphy
Dampier

with guys like Boykins coming off the bench would of made the playoffs and done so for quite a long time. The Warriors were well set to be one of the most exciting and successful teams in the NBA. Now all that has done and all they can look forward to now is the lottery. Foyle is doing exactly what I expected, nothing. Fisher is not starter material and shouldn't be getting starter minutes. The only above average player on the GS team is Jason Richardson. It would of been best to try and become a player in free-agency next summer instead of wasting the cap space on J-rich and Murphy.

Have you paid attention to any of the 5 Warriors games so far this season? Derek Fisher has outplayed Speedy Claxton. I guess being the starting PG on a Championship team is not considered starting material. EDIT (watch your language). Richardson has played like crap so far this year. Fisher is playing better than Jrich. I guess that would make him above average too right?

I agree with this comment somewhat, but what FA's are left now? They all got extensions...

34% shooting 13% from the three-point line, yeah really impressive [IMG] If Fisher has outplayed Speedy shooting that % then Speedy is either struggling with injury or has completely dipped down from what he was.

Fisher has never been nothing more than a decent role player, he fitted in so well in L.A due to the Shaq and Kobe duo. back in 2000/2003 he could knock down open shots and at least run the offense by getting the ball inside Shaq. He normally plays well in the playoffs but his assists per game aren't anywhere near as high as It should be for a point guard.

Fisher started on a championship team purely because they had no one better due to their cap situation no good point guard was willing to go to L.A for the amount they could afford. Fisher suited their system well, Shaq makes his team-mates better so at times Fisher looked better than he actually was. Fact is Fisher wouldn't play anymore than 20 minutes on any current title contenders. So before you get defensively actually read what you are going to post.

BTW make sure you read the guidelines, the part where you can't swear/insult other posters.

Go ahead Moderator, flex your e muscles.

Fisher up to this point has played better than Claxton has to this point. Go check the stats...

Last I checked these players don't post on the boards and for the record I wasn't insulting any player. All seem like basic facts to me. You actually think Derek Fisher is anything above an average role player?

I've checked Fisher's and Speedy's stats, Fisher has suddenly forgot how to shoot the ball, how is what he's doing any better than Speedy's stats? Speedy is averaging 9 and 5 on 41% compared to Fisher's 11 and 4 on a terrible 34% shooting. I guess some guys just can't shoot well without Shaq.
