Damn what a close game at the end. We came close as to 1 pt behind with 5 minutes remaining and then came the turnovers, that stupid offensive goal tending that the refs let Duncan slide with, that Vlade-esque flop that Horry pulled off and a bad time to shoot blanks. Anyways I think we did a great job to bounce back against the title favorite Spurs from the big lost to the Mavericks and show that we have improved on D (still needs work though) and showed to the World that 77 games later come playoff time we will be a force to reckon with. Good job by our bench and team to play a strong 48min without Wade and for going the distance against the Spurs. We need to improve on our ballhandling and passing because we had 22 TOs and the Spurs managed to score on most of the TOs. Shaq had 23pts and 21 boards and 4 assists. The Hammys getting better Spurs 93 > 84 Heat Here's your box score - http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/boxscore?gid=2004111224 My mobo went out so I won't be able to post much. You guys keep this board going with out me Peace.
If wade had played the Heat would have won. It was a close game going down the stretch but when Ginobli got his own rebound and hit that 3 it swung the momentum in the Spur's favor. Shaq played like a monster last night. He had crazy numbers and if Wade had put that many in last night the Heat would have won. I odn't think Duncan looked that impressive. The only gret thing I saw him do was the play where he missed a shot then tipped it in.

S.A certainly didn't play that well a side from Manu.

The boxscore doesn't show how S.A had this game in hand from the start. Miami has no bench, they won't win a title until they get one.

We do have a bench that can produce. They are mostly not proven yet tho but so far, they have produced a lot for us.

Dwyane Wade was hurt(dwyane WAde is a HUGE part of the Maimi Team. 2. HomeCourt Lets just say if Miami had home court that game they wold've won. They played a great game without Wade. It just proves that everyone who came in here before the season started was right about the Heat having no depth. Yes you beat us twice in a row, we're not a title contender & it accounts for almost half of your win total. So what does that say about Miami? Dallas & San Antonio are title contenders & you didn't stand a chance. Even then when did Washington figure into this arguement? Now I'll go back to my precious Wizards forum!

If Wade was playing, how do you figure the Spurs would've lost? Just because you've got another star playing...that doesn't mean you'll automatically win against one of the best teams in the league. The Mavs were going to beat the Miami Heat, Wade being healthy or not. He was in for 31 minutes before getting injured...and the Heat had already lost the game after being down 34-19 in the first quarter, and only cutting that lead to 13 going into the 4th quarter. Why wouldn't the Spurs do the same thing to them? One of the main reasons why I predicted an unsuccessful season for the Heat in the first place was because of injuries, and so far...it looks like I'm right. The Heat haven't even touched anyone difficult other than the Spurs and Mavs, which both resulted in losses. You can't expect to do so well with only two guys scoring and pulling boards. Plus, I haven't seen much defense at all out of Shaq, other than the 4 blocks he had the last game...the Bucks scored 40+ points in the paint. If you're the MDE, you don't let that happen...but it did. I'm not hating on the Heat, so don't get me wrong. I have alot to worry about on my side also...but until the Heat go on a winning streak by stomping the NBA's elite teams, I wouldn't bet on advancing far into the playoffs just yet...let alone a championship.

He fouled out, and the Bucks took advantage and went inside and drove into the lane more. I mean, he manhandled Gadzuric and everyone else that was put on him. It's ok to hate him, but you don't have to downgrade his performance.

If Shaq has to play 48 minutes a game, then the Heat are in trouble. The Bucks didn't score 42 points in the paint in a matter of 8 minutes, either. Shaq can manhandle anyone offensively, but being known as the most dominant player ever means you are dominant both offensively and defensively. Any Heat fan will sit here and agree on two things: that the Heat can be a really dangerous team, and to be dangerous, they are going to need more than just HUGE offensive performances by Wade and Shaq. Dominant centers don't let anything get by easily...but when half of your points are in the paint and it's against Shaq (playing pretty much the entire game), especially with the Bucks, you have to wonder why. It would be different if it was against a team that dominates the paint...but that's supposed to be the Heat's job. The Heat would be undefeated right now, if Wade and Shaq could be as good on defense as they are on offense. Sure, Wade is doing spectacular, and Shaq is grabbing everything off the rim...but defensively, I'm confused.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Come on...40 minutes isn't enough? Well, if 58 minutes were played in the game...then I'd expect Shaq to play around 48 of those. I didn't watch the game...so I can't say much about it, but when he was in LA, that's what kind of trouble we went through with him. He gets in foul trouble when he's needed the most... So, then I should ask: is Doleac capable of holding down the paint, with his backup being Zhi Zhi (I assume), if Shaq ends up in a situation like Wade? I'm just asking the question I had to ask myself for 8 years, especially the last couple of years, when all the Lakers had to back him up was Medvedenko, who couldn't play a lick of defense. I've never doubted his offensive abilities...because Shaq can pretty much score on anyone unless he's fouled...but I've always questioned his health and his defensive presence in the paint. He used to swat shots out of the air from driving PG's to strong, quick centers...but even in the playoffs last year, he was embarassed on the defensive end, with guys like Francis, Parker and Cassell hitting easy runners over him. Everyone knows that him and Wade can be one of the top duos in the league...but my question is: will their health and defensive weaknesses allow them to be? Like I said...the Lakers have their share of problems also...but this is concerning the Heat, and that's why I'm asking the question.

Also, if your going to bad mouth him, you gotta watch the games and point out flaws, right? <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">So, then I should ask: is Doleac capable of holding down the paint, with his backup being Zhi Zhi (I assume), if Shaq ends up in a situation like Wade? Depends on how long he has to be out their for. He can hold his own, and then he can let Shaq take over when needed to. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">I've never doubted his offensive abilities...because Shaq can pretty much score on anyone unless he's fouled...but I've always questioned his health and his defensive presence in the paint. It's not his fault Payton couldn't defend worth an ass in the playoffs last year, and those guys were allowed to get in the lane at will. Plus, those shots were not easy, they were nice high-arched shots, and we all know Shaq can only jump so high in the air. Also, it's not like 5 of them would be hit a game against him. It only happened once in a while. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Everyone knows that him and Wade can be one of the top duos in the league...but my question is: will their health and defensive weaknesses allow them to be? Wade has gotten much better on D, and while Shaq may be lazy at times, I'll admit that, he still is capable of averaging 2.5 to 3 blocks a game, and if he can clog the paint, it makes it easier on everyone else to defend on the perimeter.
