Carter's New Adopted Ritual <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> LOS ANGELES -- Only after Vince Carter carefully fastens the expensive portable stereo unit to his body and rams the headphones into his ears is he ready to join the rest of the Toronto Raptors on the basketball court for the pregame warm-up. </div> <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> It is a curious ritual that the 27-year-old has adopted of late, seemingly isolating himself from the rest of his teammates as they run simple drills and shoot baskets together about 20 minutes before the opening tip. </div> Nice. Now he needs his Ipod and headphones before he is "ready to join his teammtes." I hate the "I don't care" attitude Vince has seemed to adpot nowadays. No wonder no one wants him, he's wrecking his value even more. I hope Sam Mitchell changes him as a bench player if he continues to act and play this way. He might not care but I agree with Sam Mitchell: <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> On Friday, after Toronto dropped an 88-87 decision to Seattle, an irate Mitchell suggested in no uncertain terms that changes to his starting rotation were close at hand. "The guys that aren't going to play team basketball are not going to play," Mitchell said, without singling out any player. "I don't know any other way to do it. "I do know one thing. If they do it their way, we're going to lose. And if I don't do it my way, I'm going to get fired. But if I'm going to get fired, I'm going to get fired doing it my way." </div> Teach this spoiled "franchise" player a lesson. I'm not complaining about his Ipod specifically, but just the attitude he posses now.
That article is by Dave Feschuk right? It's only one game; what's wrong with you people? If Carter has a monster game next game versus the Clippers, all of you will be kissing his ass again.
I have said it before and I'll say it again: If The Raptors are winning, and Vince is acting like this and playing as badly as he is playing then I could care less because what matters to me is the Raptors record, not a highly underachieving "franchise" player. If Vince's attitude is detrimental to the team, his playing is bad and the Raptors are losing then I'd love to see him go for 2 solid starters and get rid of his whining and softness once and for all. I don't know who wrote the article, it's someone from the Globe and Mail I believe.
http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/Art...orts/TopStories thats the link to the article. As forthis, I just wanna see carter play. and I love how Dave Feshcuk has such a bad rep.
Im pretty sure he does pray. hes roman catholic. No player is perfect so just stop with the Vince hating. I bet you all will love him when he wins games for Raps like he did against Portland mainly about a week ago. Something obviously is not right with him and his playing time. Lets let things settle and hope for the best and hope the good Vince carter will come to play every night. In response to the "don't care" attitude he has with the headphones... I will have you know I came to the Portland-Toronto game 2 hours early to watch the shootaround. Vince did have the headphones in and he was lookng really good practicing. He was also chatting with his teamates on the perimeter and laughing it up. Him and Palacio had some funny stuff goin on. So hes not secluded in a corner and not with the team. He looked very connected and very focused. He did the same thing in 2000. He would like to get ready for the game in a way he felt was best.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting MaxaMillion711:</div><div class="quote_post"> I bet you all will love him when he wins games for Raps like he did against Portland mainly about a week ago.</div> They also played Portland a 2nd time a couple days ago and lost. I believe he had 14 points or something like that.
NBA says no Ipod for Carter Vince just doesn't get anything he wants lol, no trade, team hasn't won, and now no IPod's before the game
NBA tells Vince he can't have his iPod during warmups <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">NEW YORK -- Vince Carter has to listen to his favorite tunes on his own time. The Toronto Raptors star was informed by the NBA that he no longer can listen to music on his iPod during the 20-minute warmup period before each game. Carter recently started listening to the music on his headphones, a violation of the league's rules on proper attire. When the NBA heard about it, the league called the Raptors.</div> More: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=1924069 By the way he plays, he's probably listening to Celine Dion or Elton John during those 20 minute warmups.
This has been posted already in the Novemeber 16 Articles thread. Carter should've known the rules already, or someone on his team should of told him. Oh well, atleast he didn't get fine. BTW, Vince doesn't listen to that kind of music, he listens to Rap/Hip Hop, R&B and Jazz.

If you look at my profile, you will see that Vince is one of my favourite players. However, I am really critical of him because #1- he is capable of so much more and #2- he is making himself look bad.
I think it was a good call. There is music already playing. He should be focusing on the game and not on the music. He can listen to music when he gets home or in the car but not during the warm up session.

i think the nba should endourse (sp?) iPod. print the logo or the team logo on the back of the iPod. i can understand wanting to listen to a song that pumps you up before the game, i alway listen to somehing thats gonna fire me up in the car on the way to the game.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting McGrady#1:</div><div class="quote_post">i think the nba should endourse (sp?) iPod. print the logo or the team logo on the back of the iPod.</div> That would be cool, a Miami Heat red/black iPod with the Heat logo. No advertising on jerseys though, yuck. Once the NBA starts with advertising on uniforms, it will escalate to the point where they look like NASCAR drivers or euro elite league hockey players where every square inch of their body is covered with an advertisement and they look like skating billboards.
