Deadset, will this fella ever give us any credit? In his latest ESPN Power Rankings, he has the Supes ranked 10th. Hey, I know we've been guilty of hot starts and fading away before, but the bottom line is we're still sitting 6-1 with the NBA's best record behind 7-1 Dallas, we've inflicted the Spurs' only loss thus far, and we beat the 3-4 Kings by 30, who are ranked above us! Not only that though, he refuses to give the team credit. He ranked us 29th, just above the Bobcats, in his first rankings of the season, and we've come out firing. Think he could find a bit of praise for the team? Fat chance, instead all we get are sarcastic comments: <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Remember last November, when Flip Murray was deified? Danny Fortson is this season's Flip, because some Sonics fans are apparently calling Fortson the next Lonnie Shelton.</div> Yeah I know I'm being sensitive, and it doesn't make any difference what one NBA 'expert' thinks of us, but it's still annoying.
Be happy. Stein has been dissing the Knicks for ever. I have not seen one example of him ever, ever saying <u>anything</u> positive about New York. In fact, 99% of the time he's on ESPN or ESPNEWS he's in New Jersey or Boston. Somewhere, anywhere, outside of New York. Honestly, I think he's been a little off with his stupid rankings (he just gives such stupid explainations). I swear some of the stuff he writes about the Atlantic division and Boston just makes me cringe. He is so pro-Philadelphia it is disgusting. Not to mention the fact that he doesn't even give Isiah credit on Ariza or Sweetney's development in any of his articles. <font color="DarkRed">_________________________________________</font> When the question of the Knicks arises he simply shrugs it off saying something like: <font color="Teal">"The Knicks have too many overpaid guys who can't perform, and that hurts them. Not to mention they stink. "</font> ^Something like that. It's horrible, he provides us with poor, raw data and gives us a bunch of junk to look through and read. He always seems to contradict himself later on in the season, and never really stands by his points he makes early on. Why in this world is Marc Stein writing for ESPN?!
I don't even pay attention to this guy. His rankings are inaccurate and stupid. I never payed too much attention to Stein and never will
hehe just cus you said it: "Team of the Week Seattle SuperSonics. Doesn't matter that the Supes looked sensational last November and faded . . . and that they're fully expected to repeat the pattern this season. With victories already over San Antonio, Denver, Sacramento and surprising Toronto -- along with a big comeback Sunday night over Memphis -- Seattle has achieved a measure of history. Call this the first team in NBA annals to turn a 30-point loss to the Clippers (on Opening Night, no less) into a springboard for success. The long-term prospects aren't great for a club that does more living and dying with jump shots than any other team, but the Sonics haven't missed many jumpers since seeing the Clips." http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/columns/stor...marc&id=1923150
Well, I look stupid now. Speaking of going back to our old ways, we just tied the franchise record for made three pointers in a game, with 18 against Philly.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting mrj18:</div><div class="quote_post">I don't even pay attention to this guy. His rankings are inaccurate and stupid. I never payed too much attention to Stein and never will</div> exactly, I don't know if this guy every touched a basketball, but he doesn't look like it at all...I never listen to what he has to say or even read his stuff...go sonics
Better to stay under the radar and win then receive recognition and lose. I could care less how Marc Stein views the Sonics. He doesn't even get respect amongst his ESPN colleagues.
