I agree with you man, Kobe gets booed for some ridiculous crap. But it makes me think too. Carmelo hasn't been booed for his off court crap. Yet a guy like Antoine Walker gets booed regulary for being an ass on the court and dancing. Yet a guy like Ricky Davis only gets booed in Cleveland even though he is notorious for padding stats through intentionally missed shots to increase rebounds.

There is something about Kobe that people love to hate. I'm not sure what it is. It's not the fact that he's great, because like I said guys like Walker get booed. It's not because he's an ass, because he has a rep for being nice to fans. It's not morals or lack of intelligence, because look at Carmelo.

    Oh well....

Well, who knows what the reasons were for him being booed in Philly.

However...Melo was caught with marijuana and also involved in a brawl...which some people do all the time, and really isn't that big of a deal (not saying it's a good thing). Kobe was accused of rape...big difference...and that's the reason why he's probably the most hated of all athletes right now. Not ONE person can make a joke out of a rape accusation, but alot of people can laugh and joke about Melo's problem(s).

That's rough. I really hopes Kobe keeps his head up. His team is somewhat struggling, he has all these labels thrown on him by the media and now he gets booed in the one place he calls his home. It's kind of sad but it's probably just the harcore Shaq supporters that dislike him.

    One again: Winning changes everything..

I remember when Vince Carter played his first game in the ACC after requesting that trade, many of the fans booed him during the introductions. When Carter played good in the first game of the season and got that game-winner against Portland, everyone was kissing his ass.

Winning is the key to winning fans over.
Right now, it's basically the "cool" thing to hate on Kobe. For absolutely no reason at times.
Many of it is because of the negativity portrayed by the media towards and some of it is just due to people not liking a complete yet quiet player who "tries to do too much". Some just don't like the man, it's that simple.

It's like me not liking Tracy Mcgrady. I respect him as a player but dislike him as a person. Same with Carmelo. So it's all on people's views.

By the way, Kobe was really hurt when he was booed in 2002 in Philly. Just cause he smiled while picking up the trophy doesn't mean he wasn't hurt. He even told Scoop of Slam that, not to mention Jim Gray (of all people).

There will always be haters. He just needs to keep his head up and win. The haters love to see you fail. If he is winning, he shouldn't focus on the booing because they have less reason to boo. When his team is struggling and he's failing, that's when the boos will come out (in L.A).

i believe it was because he said he was going to "bust iverson's ass" during the playoffs.

    He said that? Lol.
I remember it was because #1- the Lakers had just killed the Sixers in the NBA Finals and number 2- he jacked a lot of shots that game. I wonder if they would have booed Shaq had he been playing on the floor that game.

Actually I remember now, Kobe said that he would "Tear the answer's heart out in a game of one on one". Thanks for refreshing my memory. Suddenly I feel even less sorry for the man than I didn before.

^I don't really feel sorry for kobe being booed either. I like the guy, but he shouldn't have said that. And remember, you should know how emotional the philly fans are.
