I find myself extremely proud and excited when the Sixers win. Yet when they lose, I can't stand them. Especially when they lose like they did last night... giving up a lead, taking horrible shots, not defending well, etc. If they're trying then they're trying and I accept that. But last night, among other nights, was unacceptable and I left the arena discusted.

Does anyone else get like this with the Sixers or with any team in general where you flip flop from adoring them to hating them? I just hate losing.

It's all part of being a loyal fan. You take the good times with the bad.

^^ I am a loyal fan, that's why I feel bad about feeling this way sometimes. It usually just lasts for about an hour or so after the game and the next day I am over it. *Shrug*

That's what I mean, the highs and lows come with being a fan.

i dunno, i get that way sometimes too. But it does show that you care about the team, the outcome, the way they paly, even the effort they give on losing efforts. Being a Philly fan especially is always a roller coaster ride of emotions. You just gotta stick wit'em, when you stop caring, then you should really start to worry:)

Ah yeah, this is how all fans of certain teams are supposed to feel. Other wise they cannot call themselves a fan.

Yep ... that is the nature of being a fan.
When the Sixers are rollin' we think NBA championship and when things are not going well, we think ... well ... maybe next year. However, I would say it might be nice to eliminate the word "hate" from your description of your feelings. "Disappointed" would be better. And then ... life goes on ...

It's all a part of the game. You win, you lose. If nobody can accept losing, and would rather hate their team instead, then that person is absolutely not a true fan. Because a true fan can sit in a seat watching the thousands of others file out of the stadium while the fourth quarter gets underway, watching their team getting their asses kicked by a 20-30 point margin, and still provide support once 0.00 hits. That's a hardcore fan.

hate is such a strong word... [IMG]

but on what the other guy said, it'd be pretty hard to stay at like a 20 point blowout...now that tests loyalty

^^ I never walk out. I may have maybe once but that's because they were getting blown out by like 30. It was vs Boston maybe 2 seasons ago. Anyways, since then I have never walked out. I couldn't. I find that so rude. You pay for the seat, you stay the whole damn game.

Losing to a team that was one 3-Pointer shy of putting themselves in the record book for the most 3Pt FG's made in a game is nothing to be embarrassed about. If it wasn't for the Sonics 3Pt onslaught, I think it would be safe to say that the 76ers would have won the game. So this is nothing to worry about, the season is still young and the other teams in the Atlantic Division aren?t so hot either.

I feel exactly the same way as you. But like mentioned, that's what comes with being a fan. It's not always going to be a joyride.

I get like that when the Knicks lose. When they lose but, play with great effort I can live like that but, when they play with no heart and desire and lose I can't stand that at all. If the 76ers do really well and make it to the finals and lose you'll feel even worse. Good thing this is only the regular season.

Man I really hate seeing the Sixers lose, I am used to thinking with a football mantality and I realize the season is very long, in basketball you'll have numerous times to redeem yourself, so I just look at loosing as part of the game.

I also remeber losing against Detroit the last time we were in the playoffs.I espically remember that luck BS shot Atkins shot and DC goaltended to win the game for Detroit, thats one of my worst Sixer memories.

All that makes you a fan, it's no biggie. I thought you knew things like this come with any type of team. Of course you're gonna hate the team when they lose, because you're frusturated, because you believe in them too much that you want them to win, and when they don't it's a letdown.

It's the gift and the curse.
