Theres a lot more people who used to be KB lovers who are now haters than i thought. I'm just curious what people from this forum thought of him in general. Not as a Laker, but as an individual (private, public, image, etc) 1. Are you a KB hater? 2. Have you always been a hater?
I think Kobe is a great basketball player. I have always looked at him differently since that sexual assault thing though. But, as an indiviual doesn't really matter it's what they do on the court that counts.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting STCBBall3:</div><div class="quote_post">Kobe is my favorite player. Kobe haters are all over the place. Who cares.</div> Well I love the way he plays basketball, thats why I like him so much. On the other fact I am don't glorify the whole sexual assault case either, I just love the way he plays basketball.
Kobe Bryant is my favorite player. I don't care about what kind of guy he is off the court. I don't care about is image. All I care about is his game.
He's a fun player to watch, particularly when he gets on one of his streaks on the offensive end. I admire his competitiveness on the court and his work ethic. I don't think too much of him as a person, but I also recognize that lots of great athletes are jerks in their private life. That shouldn't take away from his legacy as a basketball player.
Kobe's the man when he's on the court...one of the best in the NBA...but off-court, I don't have anything to say about him. Then again, that's none of my business.
I have to agree with realdealbneal. Its not my business to know what people do off the court. On the court he is one of the best that i've seen.
kobe hater? no. kobe is a selfish player who drove one of the most dominating centers out of la look at the heat then look at the lakers shaq has helped wade flourish.... imagine if kobe woulda just let the big guy run the show... then kobe would be hands down one of the greatest players around... now his team is struggling and being compared to the clippers.... enough said

Wade flourished himself...he was putting up great numbers while Shaq was sitting. And Shaq was the one who wanted more money. The Lakers offered him a new contract for less money, not much less...and he said it himself...and he turned it down. He ran himself out.

I dislike Kobe's fans than Kobe himself, the fact they Overhype everything he does Fail to realise Shaq was the main reason for the 3 championships They think every dunk he does is dunk of year He is actually a great defender some compare him to MJ and think he is equal to MJ at his current age They think he is some kind of basketball god Some even say he is the best player in the NBA Those are among the things why Kobe is hated, It's due to the hype and extra praise he gets even though he never deserves It. Kobe himself is very arrogant, he thinks he is MJ at times with the moves and movement around the court. Apart from that he is still a very good player who is a top 5 player and talent. Kobe is a fraud off the floor but to be honest I have grown tired of all that and could care less what he does outside of basketball. If he wants to cheat and not settle for an amazing wife and kid then so be It.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting AllNet:</div><div class="quote_post"> He is actually a great defender</div> Well, I sincerely think he is an outstanding defensive player. I have the opportunity to watch a lot of Laker games and I can see the havoc he causes on the defensive end. Now adversary Phil Jackson concedes that Kobe is a great defensive player. Polled NBA GM's have rated Kobe a top tier defender. Polled NBA Scouts have rated Kobe a top tier defender, so I doubt so many people are wrong in that view.
Kobe is a good defender but gets way too much credit defensively, he is like Mcgrady. He can play great defense every now and then but never does It consistantly. It's a joke he keeps making all defensively team every year, Shaq made life alot easier for him on defense. Players knew once they got pass Kobe they had a monster who takes up alot of space inside. Most of the time Kobe gets burnt by shooting guards, even average shooters guards have careers games against him. Kobe is not a bad defender but he isn't great either.
Okay okay everyone...Shaq is the main reason why we won three championships...although: he didn't do it for the first three seasons he was on the team, and Kobe was seeing limited minutes. he didn't win it in Orlando. And I must admit...Kobe does not deserve to be called the best player in the NBA. He does nothing, absolutely nothing, to be called that...although he has to his name: All-NBA First Team (3 years) All-Defensive First Team (3 years) All-NBA Second Team (1 year) All-Defensive Second Team (2 years) All-Star (6 years) All-Star MVP (2002) The youngest ever to appear in an NBA game The yougest ever to appear in an All-Star game 3 consecutive championships The youngest player ever to score 10,000 points Record for 12 threes in a game Record for 9 consecutive threes Shares the record for 8 threes in a half Has hit incredible clutch shots, resembling the man himself Arguably the best perimeter player in the league Arguably the most clutch in the NBA (ask the coaches and GM's in the nba.com poll) Had miraculous comebacks after court appearances and then you have Accused of rape And that kills it all.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting AllNet:</div><div class="quote_post">They think every dunk he does is dunk of year</div> For real. I have a mix of the "Best Dunks for 02-03". They year that Ricky Davis Dunked on Nash, Amare on Kandi, etc. After a little while it just start showing Kobe clips, and half of them are layups and three pointers..... But on a more serious note, Kobe is averaging nearly 30 ppg this year, yet shooting 39%. I have noticed that Laker fans have avoided discussing this. Remember all those years when AI did the same thing? You guys hated on him left and right, but now that Kobe does the same thing nobody wants to talk about it. Now what exactly is your justification for Kobe being better than Tmac? His assists have dropped. FG and 3p% plummeted, and the Lakers are off to their worst start in years. But you keep saying that it's too early to panic. I think that people are going to keep saying that as long as the Lakers still have a chance to grad homecourt, mathematically based on the number of games left.

Oh, and a career high in blocks, with 6.2 rebounds a game, and a career high in FT% (at 87%)...with 5.3 assists, more than last season. And...all this while playing injured...oh, and no Shaq. :thumbsdow

He's also averaging over 6 boards and 5 assists, which is about where he is for his career (excluding his early years).
Thats the thing Jurassic, the real difference between Kobe and Mcgrady is the fact Kobe has had Shaq by his side for 8 seasons. The 45% shooting was high as because of the attention Shaq created, Kobe was given more chances to get better looks. Now he is seeing double and triple teams every single offense, his FG% is really bad, As I mentioned in the off-season Kobe is finally entering the real world of the NBA. The world of superstars having to actual carry their teams to victory instead of turning to the big fella inside. People still don't realise how easy Shaq makes certain players life easier, first It was Penny, then Eddie Jones (just look at his % in L.A) and now Kobe. If Kobe just takes his team to the playoffs and they are just an average team, how does that make him any different to T-mac,AI or the Paul Pierce's of the world?

Pierce snagged an 8th seed...in the East. Kobe and the Lakers are in the West, and could very well end up winning the division...or getting into the playoffs for sure. And not everyone needs Shaq to play. Alot of people were happy that McGrady has Yao...but what's that doing for the Rockets? Nothing. Pierce doesn't have Shaq. Look at Michael Redd, who keeps lighting up the Heat...he's shooting like crazy. Wade's FG% was pretty high last year, without Shaq.
