Along with Reef and Anderson, the deal will reportedly include Vladimir Stepania and Qyntel Woods.

I don't mind the idea of this trade, and if it were to go through I would not be mad at all - I just don't like the idea of giving up Jalen Rose. But then again you have to give up something to get something.

I'm all for getting rid of Vince, and this new depth could be very beneficial, and the cap room in the end.

If it does happen I just hope the winning will continue, I hope this isn't specifically a "next year move" because I'm sick of waiting for next year and the next year. But as it stands it looks pretty solid so I support the deal.

Well, would the cap space do any good? Up to now, I think the biggest signing the Raps have made in the free agent market was the $28 mil they gave to Skip. If this deal goes through, the Raps would have the cap space to enable to go after a $60-70 million player. Would they know what to do with that space? I'm sure they'd sign a top-calibre star, but can we be sure that Babcock won't rush out and overpay a player because he won't know how to use that cap space? It would suck majorly if that indeed does happen. Besides, Reef would have to play SF with us, which would mean that we'd have a big frontcourt but one that is immobile against teams with quick small forwards. The only good part about the deal would be the cap space and the fact that Mo Pete would be able to start. With the way he's playing off the bench, I won't mind that at all.

Why does every one want Reef to play small forward. This guy is one of the best power forwards in the league. Make Bosh use his length and power on small forwards. He could really dominate people in that position. Portland is getting more potential in the trade, but oh well, its worth it.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting dj_premium_plus:</div><div class="quote_post">ii think that its a good deal on paper...its 3 very solid players...if we get NVE and anderson, then at least it gives us someone to replace what we lose. but they are just that...redundant positions. reef doesnt wanna play the 3 spot...and do we really want him playing the 3 anyways? we're already gettin torched on D...having him at the 3 isnt exactly gonna help us.
    </div>

it won't be both NVE and Anderson, it will be for one or the other.

I would be ok with this deal as long as it's NVE and SAR, just so we can finally get some cap space. But of course, we would probably overspend on second-tier players just so they will want to play in Canada, based on what our past history has been. We really have not been able to sign any big-name free agents other than Olajuwon (who was over the hill) and Rafer - who came back because he already played for us.

^^yea, i know that now. before that link was posted it seemed unclear what the exact deal was...

is it just me? or would this deal make more sense if it included donyell instead of jalen?

i think bosh would GET dominated at that position too.

bosh's game is that of a pf's. i dont think its a good idea at this point of his development to set him back a step by putting him out of position

I'm not big on Shareef but I do like Nick Van Exel and Qyntel Woods. Vince wants to leave and he is probably going to in the near future, but I dont think this should be Vince's ticket out we could get a much better player or atleast a player with potential that we could bring along slowly like Bosh. 'Reef isnt worth Vince, but I gotta feeling this trade might go through. Trip already posted the good things that are going to result from the trade but there's going to be bad things, 'Reef isnt a franchise player I mean if he can win games for you he's not a franchise player look at him when he was in Atlanta.

^I don't want that to happen. Ever.(referring to an older post by djpremium plus about vince nad donyell)

The only remotely good thing I like about htis trade is getting rid of Vince. But this is one of the worst trades I've seen. IF this goes through, this early in the season, Babcock better hve something up his sleeves.

Maybe this is old news andVince and Jalen knew about it.

you'd rather keep a bench role player who's contract is expiring then jalen? if we keep donyell we prolly wont be able to resign him at the end of the season...if we trade him now, we might actually be able to get something back for him.

we could include him in a deal to new orleans for magloire for example

Portland have no use for Marshall, so they wouldn't want him. ESPN has stated it would be Anderson instead of NVE.

what do you mean no use for him? why not? hes a great player...why would they have no use for him? he'd be a great pf off the bench.

thats like saying we have no use for reef

They need is more getting in shooters than a guy who would hardly ever play with Randolph starting and getting 35-40 minutes a night. Jalen is the type of guy they need, someone who can shoot the ball and create. Portland's problem has been lack of offense and guys who can score from deep. Marshall can play the 3 but is best used as a 4 man. You also have to factor on salaries, It wouldn't work with Marshall instead of Jalen.

Because thats goign to happen, we the fans can think whatever the heck we want but the chances of it happening are slim. I'd like the deal you proposed though, but theres no point in us proposing deal's unless its for NBA Live, lol.. We'll I think if we dont get NVE we should get D-Miles.

Right now I'd rather get rid of Jalen's huge contract and have a chance at resigning Donyell in the offseason with the extra money than having to pay Jalen's (who will even be less effective with VC gone).

Donyell at 7-8 mil will be much better value than Jalen at 13-14 mil.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting deception:</div><div class="quote_post">i respect your argument but vince has cost the raps big time on the road trip; u could argue all the losses could be directly attributed to his inept play. plus, vince and jalen are on the bench in the decisive fourth quarter so its not like we are giving up a lot. and after the portland game, how could u actually defend vince? and about redundancy, i agree to an extent but i think we can circumvent that by doing what dallas did in the crucial minutes by playing van exel at two. and u forgot about rashard lewis as another free agent. imagine signing redd and lewis, two twenty something stars?</div>
It's just the redundancy in positions, and the uncertainty of whether their's someone there we'll actually get with out cap space. NVE is fine in crunch, but even look at when we were playing Portland, it's a defensive disadvantage, and what if we had NVE at 2 and Reef at the 3, we have a lot of defensive holes especially considering Bosh still can't guard the stronger PF's.
Rashard Lewis got an extension, he's not an FA next season.

The good free agents available are: Ray Allen, Michael Redd, Zydrunas Ilguaskas, and Theo Ratliff.

Redd's options are going to be stay in Milwaukee, or Cleveland since he's an Ohio guy, I don't see how the Raptors would be an option to him over those 2 places, doesn't make sense.

Already said about Allen and Z.

Their's also Ronald Murray, Joe Johnson [restricted], Antoine Walker [ [IMG] ], Marko Jaric, Kerry Kittles, Bobby Simmons, Stromile Swift, Damon Stoudamire, and Larry Hughes.
