like i said before...people worrying about whether we'll be able to attract the big name free agents. WE DONT HAVE TO. trade reef/NVE/marshall/DA, all of them or some of them at the deadline to teams looking to make a run at redd or one of the other guys. pick up a proven center or another kick ass player. BUILD AROUND BOSH

    do the trade

it works well for both teams

i still just dont like this trade. if stepania was off the table and the trade included NVE, then i like it a little more. i guess im just not ready to let go and go into rebuild mode [IMG]

jalen likes it in toronto...he's being paid too much, but if we could keep him and make a move for magloire, we'd have a solid solid front court and a team that could make the playoffs.

if we throw in palacio and moiso i just think that we are giving up WAAAAY too much for what we are getting in return (talking about the deal thats on the table stepania, SAR & anderson). essentially all we are getting is cap relief and a scrub and we are giving up so much. i just think we should really consider shopping around for better deals.

andersons has good has rose his...his contracts half the size and he's a fresh face that might adopt better to the "team" play mitchell wants. sure rose had 2 good games...but i still dont think he's a good fit. If i had the choice between NVE and anderson i'd take NVE though.
I dont like stepania....but his contracts done. I'd rather see Quintel Woods coming over.
but hey who knows...maybe the hornets want some cap space to take a run at Redd...maybe we could trade reef and a pick for magloire and some filler?
Alot more wheeling and deeling can be done with THAT much ending contract then can be done with a disgruntled player with career low numbers that plays a position most common in the NBA among stars.
i dont like throwing paliacio in....moiso's not much of anything though. I'd rather keep them both of the trade unless we can get woods....in which case i'm ok with moiso going.
not like i have a say...but who knows.
Also...its possible that another team might get into it as a 3 team trade. Perhaps the clips, hornets or Nuggets...maybe the lakers who want the cap space for 2 years from now to get Yao... you never know

you mean in length?...because i think Anderson still has 2 years and 19 million left on his contract.

I'm not liking this deal too much, I just think we can get something better if we're more patient. Carter's value is at it's lowest point right now, so trading him right now is not a good idea. And even if we're just going to blow up the team and rebuild (which I think is the best idea right now), we have to get at least a first round draft pick in return.

Carter is not going to bring us a championship and neither will SAR. So the best option is to start over and draft someone that can.

I don't agree with the deal because of Derek Anderson and the cap space we get back. Abdur-Rahim is the only player that comes off the books, and it doesn't gurantee us that someone like Ray Allen will sign here next offseason. Who becomes our goto guy in the 4th? Bosh? He's not ready, and he can't play against the best defenders in the league, just watch Wednesdays game with K-Mart on him.

At the end of this season we'll have Rafer, DA, Mo Pete, Bosh and Woods? as the core. SAR is gone after this year if this deal occurs.

I rather have a disgruntled Carter and overpaid Rose than an Overpaid DA and an FA to be.

can you imagine this from the blazers standpoint?

    Damon, Rose, Carter, Randolph, Ratliff!?!?!?!?!

by the way I think I am partly responsible for this trade. At the Tor@Por game on saturday, I sat with Rob Babcock. After the game I asked for his autograph and this went down:

Babcock - "Where do you live?"
    Me - "Portland"
    Babcock - " Raptor fan?"
    Me - "Very much"
Babcock - "How did you become a Raptor fan in Portland?"
    Me - "Vince Carter"

Yup.......Bring Vince to Portland so portland can dominate (hopefully)

Its not really a bad deal but I thought Babcock wasnt trading VC unless he got someone who would fill seats.Reef NVE and th others dont really fit that discription imo.

^I don't know about that. Any time someone (especially the star player) is disgruntled/unhappy it has an adverse affect on the team. You can see it in his eyes that he doesn't want to compete. He puts himself on a higher pedestal then the rest of the team and still gets away with it. Doesn't want to play defense, can't take it to the rim, can't box out, can't move without the ball, and he takes horrible shots. This is the best deal we can get for this guy at this point. Vince's stock has taken such a hit that I'm surprised anyone is considering to deal for him.

I know this trade is not going down but I wish it would. Carter and Rose are not worth their contracts no matter what anyone says. I would rather have their contracts off the books then endure a season full of Carter antics. I don't know about anyone else but i think he is the fakest player in the NBA.

This doesn't even make sense, but no he actually isn't, he plays better defense, but offensively what makes him better, his under 40% FG last season, and also this season so far? His high turnovers for a guy who doesn't do that much on offense, or his great ability to be a jumpshooter? DA is just another jumpshooter added to our team, nothing more. The only advantage is that he can play the point since we might be trading Milt, we need a backup PG.

Also the Hornets don't make a run at anybody, I guess you haven't been watching their past few off-seasons, but they hardly ever make big acquisitions, and why would anyone big want to go there right now?

Also Shareef is tradeable, but we'll see, if nothing progresses from it then I don't know, we'll just have to see how it all pans out...

In neither, their contract length is the same, but DA makes about 6 million less per year, he's making $8.4, $9, $9.7 as opposed to Rose's $14.4, $15.7, and $16.9.

Well I don't see why you'd be sad from the Blazers point of view except that they'd have Carter and Jalen's contracts for a while, well Jalen's the same as DA's, but that's about all.

I don't think we would have to worry about the lack of star power on our team to fill seats after the trade. Abdur-Rahim had his best years in Canada and had much of an impact when he was playing here. I'm pretty sure plenty of the Canadian fans are still fans of him and would like to see him return. Besides, it's never hard to sell tickets in Toronto, especially if the team is playing well. A new face and new energy would certainly delight the fans and keep them coming for the rest of the season, especially if the team keeps winning.

Stephen A. Smith just reported that Memphis called Toronto and talked about a Bonzi Wells and Mike Miller for Vince deal.

Sounds sort of similar to what deception said in the summer, then it looked very bad, but now I like the idea of having more depth.

Right now I am all for Vince getting out of Toronto, two mediocre players should do it - maybe even less, depth is the key to winning especially under Sam Mitchell's system.

Wells and Miller are great role players. Wells can average 18/6 numbers and Miller 15 and 5. I like that kind of production more than Vince's heartless effort. However, I think we could try to fish more out of Memphis, maybe a big man who could contribute, someone like Lorenzen Wright. Maybe we could throw in someone else like Lamond Murray.

    This sound good?

    Lamond Murray
    Vince Carter

    FOR

    Bonzi Wells
    Lorenzen Wright
    Mike Miller
