Yao and T-Mac can co-exists. JVG system sucks. All I'm trying to say is that the Rockets don't have enough key players to play at championship level. Let me compare Rockets vs. other teams to see what players are missing.

    2004 Rockets vs. Championship Rockets
Center: Yao Ming = Hakeem ( great center and dominated inside)
Power Forward: ? = Robert Horry.
Small Forward: Tracy McGrady = Clyde Drexler ( explosive)
Shooting Guard: ? = Kenny Smith ( consistant 3 point threats)
point Guard: ? = Sam Cassel ( can shoot, pass, and penetrate. Create his own shot)

2004 Rockets vs. Spurs(with David Robinson):
Center: ? = David Robinson ( did dirty work, rebounding, defender, and play some offense to relieve Tim Duncan). Right Now, the rockets just don't have a power forward to do this.

Power Forward: Yao Ming = Tim Duncan ( dominated inside). Yao is not as good as Tim but he can dominate.

Small Forward: ? = Bruce Bowden ( Nasty defender. Can shoot. Can create his own shot)

shooting guard: Tracy McGrady = Manu Ginobli ( quick and explosive).

Point Guard: ? = Tony Parker ( quick, explosive, can shoot, pass, and penetrate)

Those question marks are the missing players that the Rockets are current don't have.

Ok,Yao is not as good as Tim or Hakeem. My point is that Beside Yao and T-Mac, Rockets have no other players to step up and JVG philosophy sucks.

Jim Jackson, Mo Taylor, and Juwan Howard are all solid players. They aren't scrubs. The problem isn't simply talent, it's the holes. We don't have good rebounders in our front court rotation. And our point guards aren't any good. Sura will help a little, but I really think we need to acquire a solid rebounder to play along aside of Yao, or just give Weatherspoon some significant minutes since he's good on the boards.

I hate to deal away players, since the guys on this team are good people, but I really think Mo or Juwan should be traded for a sharp-shooting, steady point guard. Probably aren't too many of those types available, but if there are we should definitely look into it.

Our main weakness is our rebounding, especially since we're last in the league in that category. Our defense is still doing a great job in limiting the amount of quality shots the opposing team gets, but what we lack is the rebounding prowess to make sure we keep possession of the ball. I haven't looked it up but we allow 9-12 offensive rebounds a game. We have to limit the second chances opponents get. A lineup of Deke and Weatherspoon would be way more effective than one of Yao and Taylor.

Um... are you saying that in terms of domination or position? A 7' 6" Power Forward? You must be kidding me. Anyways, the holes are obvious. After watching one or two or their games, you can easily pick out that they need more rebounders and better points guards. Lue just can't play in JVG's style and Ward is not all that consistent. On some nights he's hot, on others he ice cold.

Are you talking about defense wise or just game wise? Yao and Taylor are better offensively while Deke and Weatherspoon are great inside players. Its obvious. So I'm guessing you're saying we should probably substitute DW for YT at the same time. Not a bad idea at all.

Mutombo is a naturally great offensive and defensive rebounder, and Weatherspoon, while undersized, still does a great job boxing out and hustling on the offensive boards. The only problem with these two guys is that we won't be able to go uptempo with them too. When Yao comes out of the game, I think it would be better to get faster guys in so T-Mac can do his thing.
