Here is something interesting I found this morning.... http://www.thesportsbrief.com/favrestory030105.html I don't normally read this, so I don't know how reliable this site is. Funny that if it leaked this fast, that he would wait until the draft before announcing it. Kind of makes me think it is a little bogus, even if it turns out to be right in the end anyway. That would then lead to the question of who would be the next starter. If they are going to basically wait until the draft to announce, that would probably mean that they wouldn't be signing any high-profile free agents. That would probably ensure that they would want to trade up a little if a top QB falls into the 10-15 range.
I dont buy it, he can still play and I dont think he will retire. The guy has a chance to break a lot of records, unlike Elway and Marino his skills are not really diminishing with Age, and I think he can play 2-3 more years at high level. If he retires now, he will live to regret it for a long time.
Wait, didnt elway retire as super bowl MVP? Did he not have 4 of his 5 best passing TD seasons in his final 4 years? 4 of his best 8 total yardage seasons? His best ever YPA season his final year? I guess the diminishing of his skill only showed up if you watched games with silver and green tinted glasses.
I think his family situation should be and is more important. Favre's always been a guy that plays the game with the enthusiasm of a child that is living his dream. I don't think his attachment to personal records will overshadow the other factors. If he returns, it would probably be a good sign for his wife.

Coincidentally, Elway's last four years were also the years where he had the most talent around him on the team. Oh, wait...that's not a coincidence. That's why his numbers were so good. Silly me!

Oh wait, he always had talent around him, he just got better.

The AFC was the doormat of the NFL for 15 years. It wasn't until he got a fantastic o-line, Terrell Davis (the most dominant running back in the NFL at the time) and two 1000 yard receivers in their prime that he won the big games. He went out on top and he had two great years at the end, yes. I wish Favre could do the same.

My view, however, is just as skewed.
Well looking through my BEARS SUNGLASSES, Farve is worst QB ever. Looking at his numbers blindly you can make a good case he was best, though if i am ever questioned about htis i will contend this post was made under duress.

J/K Favre is one of the Best if not the best, He is the best in my eyes just because im a bias Packer fan! But others on that list that would succeed Favre if I was not a Bias Packer fan would include Montan and Elway, Favre and Marino can be interchangable at the 3rd and 4rth spots, Johnny U is up there with them along with Jim Kelly, Steve Young, Terry Bradshaw, Troy Aikman, and Roger Staubach.

What he did, when he did it, is just beyond amazing to me. I think he defines what a QB is. Favre doesnt even pronounce his name correctly, i really cant respect that
whenever i think about Favre, i always come back to the one thing that hurts him in my mind, his willingness to tinker with the integrity of the game....I think his conspiracy to get Strahan the sack record is enough to drop him on my list....its serious business whether the national media is ready to admit it or not....
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Pack Attack)</div><div class='quotemain'>Franks missed a block. Blame him, not Favre, for Strahan's sack.</div> Yeah, blame Franks, he and Strahan were best friends, and had plotted before the game to get him the sack record, no wait, that was favre and strahan. NO HOF FOR FAVRE for tainting the game.
