Alonzo Mourning and Grant Hill are both playing great when nobody thought they could. That is why they are my suprise players. I also have to give credit to Hedo Turkoglu because he is putting up great numbers off the bench for the Magic and he is surprising a lot of people.
Actually who cares about this thread when there is a certain other issue that is more fun to be discussed about? :mrgreen: My vote for surprise player goes to Grant Hill, who has been nothing short of remarkable. I initially thought yeah maybe he could come back this year and average 10-13 ppg and that'd be considered a success. And turns out he's averaging the classic Grant Hill averages (20.5ppg, 6.1 rpg, 3.5 apg), and he had 28 pts, 7 rebds and 6 assists in a victory against the "hottest" team in the L... the Pacers. :mrgreen:
My vote goes to Bobby Simmons. He played solidly for the Clipps off the bench last season, and his main strength was his defense, but with increased minutes, his offense has gotten significantly better this year..just look at his numbers Bobby Simmons - 15.9 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 3.5 apg, 1.45 spg, 55.6 FG%, 50.0% 3FG, 97.3% FT
Yeah, Simons is a big surprise this year. I don't expect him to keep this numbers,but he could end the season with a solid 12,4,3 in my opinion. I don't know whether it's a surprise or not but Ray Allen has certainly taken his game to another level this year. He has the Sonics on 9-1. Last year they probably had a 3-7 record or something like that. Granted, the turnaround isn't only Ray's work, but in my eyes, he's really a superstar now (T-Mac,Pierce,Francis level) I expected Hill to show everybody he isn't washed up yet, but I'd never expect something like that to happen. He's putting up all-star numbers and in my eyes he's still a bit rusty. Though a surprise player is mostly someone good, I'm very surprised of the bad play of T-Mac and Yao(individually and team perspective) They don't seem to mesh well and it looks like Yao wants more shots. His assists are also down, and you could conclude that's because he isn't happy in Houston.

I thaught he never could average more than 7 points. Me was wrong, largely because he plays with the Bobcats. In the case of Brezec the same deal. He would be a 7th or 8th man on a good to average team, no matter what. Even Mark Madsen could average 15ppg with the 'Cats nowadays. Jameer Nelson has no luck because of the Franchise playing in Orlando. But if they would experiment with the backcourt Nelson-Francis, Nelson could average 10 ppg, 10apg(I'm not kidding) and 4 rpg.
I go for Kyle Korver. Hes been doing great so far this season, 12.4 PPG, 1.44 SPG, 4.00 RPG, and .435 from 3 point range. Now with rumors he may be moving up to the starting SF, just keep it up.
Tha Suprise Player Award Goes To... without a doubt, it's Korver, and for sure Rafer Alston has to be mentioned, from the playground to the NBA in a few years, props to 'Skip To My Lou'.
lol what the hell... Last year Alstons averages were exactly the same as this years I think Mo Williams...like everyone thoguht that Brezc and Wallace would score 10+ for the expansion bobcats...but who would have thought mo williams...also Bobby Simmons and Kirk MacLoed, but notice all 3 for those players have been injury replacements so they might lose their spots

THIS YEAR 15.4 ppg 6 apg, and 4 rpg. he's also avg'ing .452 from the field and .407 from 3 pt land. ALL of which are career highs by a considerable amount. basically just been what is referred to as owned lol
Since the season is basically done I will say Grant Hill because he kept it up for so long and also Ben Gordon really surprised me I did not think he was going to be Mr.Clutch.
my vote also goes to bobby simmons, and korver has to be mentioned as well. both these guys were unknowns heading into the year, and they've both turned themselves into starting caliber players.
