Is Korver the Answer? <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Sixers remain a work in progress, and that, says Jim O'Brien, their first-year coach, isn't so bad. With that work comes a little tinkering. For instance, O'Brien might put Kyle Korver in the starting lineup tomorrow night when the Sixers visit the Miami Heat. Asked if Korver would start against the Heat tomorrow, O'Brien said he and his staff would consider it. "I know he was a second-round draft pick," O'Brien said Thursday night, "but Kyle was the MVP of his league [the Missouri Valley Conference] for two straight years because he can do a lot other than shoot the basketball. He can make plays. He defends. He is one of our leaders in deflections, with aggressive hands. "He is going to play a lot of minutes for us. It's very difficult to have Kyle on the bench. It's not the best way to win - to keep him on the bench." If Korver, who was drafted 51st overall out of Creighton last year, does start for the first time in his NBA career tomorrow, it is likely that he will replace Willie Green, with small forward Andre Iguodala moving to Green's shooting-guard spot</div> Well most of us have already talked about Korver starting, right now he is the only person who is really consistant when scoring along with Corliss(and AI).But the question is should we keep him on the bench so he can provide a spark, or start him to help us with are scoring problems.
I really wanna see how he does if he starts,Philly has searched long for Allen's answer,a lot of top 10 drafted players have been in Philadelphia and tried to be the second fiddle to AI but if Korver is the one needed then Im gonna laugh...Big Dog,KVH,TT,Stack and others tried it and now a guy who was drafted 51st overall could be the one.
Korver has been playing great and I dont think its a bad idea to slide him into the starting lineup and Willie Green to the bench. Willie could be the spark off the bench, we all know he can score and thats what Korver was doing a lot of off the bench.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Nine games do not an NBA season make. If they did, they would show that the 76ers aren't doing such a good job of scoring or of stopping their opponents. But it's early. The Sixers remain a work in progress, and that, says Jim O'Brien, their first-year coach, isn't so bad. With that work comes a little tinkering. For instance, O'Brien might put Kyle Korver in the starting lineup tomorrow night when the Sixers visit the Miami Heat. The Sixers, who are 4-5 overall, finished their five-game homestand with a 3-2 mark when they lost to San Antonio, 88-80, on Thursday night. The stand, which included overtime victories over New Jersey and Indiana, showed that it is going to take a while for the Sixers to get O'Brien's system down at both ends. Again, O'Brien says, that's OK. "Every team in the NBA is a work in progress," he said after the loss to the Spurs. "I think it all starts with attitude and work ethic, and we have both of those. I think that any basketball team that I've ever been associated with that has had those two ingredients will have a good basketball season.</div> <div align="center">Link</div> It seems as if I was right when I said Kyle Korver is forcing himself into the starting lineup with his great play lately. Well it also seems as if O'Brien feels the same way and I'm not surprised. As of right now, it seems as if Kyle Korver is going to get the nod in the starting lineup when the 76ers take on the Heat tomorrow evening, but still it's yet to be determined who Kyle Korver is going to swap with, Green or Iguodala. However, notice that every time the 76ers are in a deficit, it's not Allen Iverson who ignites the run it's Kyle Korver. And just think if Kyle Korver was playing from the get go, then it's more than likely the 76ers would have never dig themselves in those huge deficits. With the lineup of Iverson, Green and Iguodala, there certainly lacks some consistent perimeter shooting and at times it lacks perimeter shooting period. However, with Korver inserted the starting lineup that certainly would no longer be the case that?s for sure. Well, while Korver has been playing exceptionally well coming off the bench moving him into the starting lineup can take him out of his comfort zone, in which he wont be as effective. Remember he's still a 2nd year player. However, you can't bare the fact that he can shoot the lights out and is arguably one of the best shooters in the NBA. On the flip side while he lacks in other aspects such as passing and defense, he improved it during the offseason and if you've been watching the Sixers games lately it certainly has been improved. But yet it's still very questionable whether he improved on it enough to give him a starting spot. So what is your take on this? Should Kyle Korver permanently be moved into the starting lineup, if so which player would he swap with, Green or Iguodala?
Isnt there a thread on this? I think its called Korver the Answer? Silky started the thread but I'll reply to this one anyway. I think that Korver should start but not over Iggy over Green. Green can produce off of the bench and could probably play better than he would in the starting line, right now I see the 6th man role suiting Green more than Korver.
Korver can be a starter but, he is more valuable on the bench. Philadelphia can use some instant offense from him. He provides a great spark when there is a bad shooting slump for them
I think Krover starting has been long deserved. He should have been starting a long time ago but big-ups to him.
I think they should run a trial period with Korver starting, if it all works out, he should win the spot.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">I think they should run a trial period with Korver starting, if it all works out, he should win the spot.</div> That's what should have been during the preseason. Now that the season has begun and every single game counts, Jim O'Brien can risk having trial periods with the guys on the roster. He needs to get the starting lineup set, because changing it up every now and then is not going to help, it's just ruining the chemistry.
I'm kind of between on this...I think Korver is awesome as instant offense and a jolt off the bench but its obvious Iverson needs shooters around him, the spurs game was evident of that...I think Korver and Green are interchangeable as far as offensive skills, with Korver being more of a shooter and Green being more of a slasher...It'll be interesting to see the starts Philly has if they do in fact decide to leave Kyle as the starter...
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">It looks like Korver is starting against the Heat today since AI is resting up his injuries.</div> Actually, he was already set to start whether Iverson played or not. Well so far he has 8 Points (3-4 FG), 1 Rebound and 1 Assists in 16 minutes. Sixers up by 2.
