There was an article in today's Pioneer Press about the Vikes wanting to go for Edwards. The only problem is that he probably will not be there at the 7th pick. Anyone think they might trade for a higher pick?

I doubt Edwards lasts to the 7th pick, especially with the Titans picking at 6....you will have to move to get a shot at him....Mike Williams might be gone by then too, but i doubt it after the time he ran....

Williams, he isnt a fast guy but has that natural ability to get the ball to him no matter where he is!

I rather Mike Williams, He is not that fast BUT he has amazing hands and is effective no matter what part of the field he is on!

Basically he is more of a Dangerous WIDE RECEIVER

If he becomes a good blocker he would make a good tight end.

I think its very possible Edwards could go anywhere from #2-#6....Saban is on record that he will pcik the best player reguardless of position, Cleveland could use a WR, Chicago could too, TB needs one, Tennessee needs one....if you want a guarantee to get Edwards, you need to go up to #1....

One should be there at 7, if not both. Both should be good players and it depends on which type of receiver you need. Edwards would stretch the field a little better, but I think people get too tied up in 40 times this time of year. This isn't Madden.

I would say Edwards being there is iffy. I don't know that you can take Williams at 7. If you want to trade back a few spots, you could probably still get him a little later. Same goes for defensive players, unless they are stuck on a Derrick Johnson.

I think the Vikings would like to get Edwards to stretch the field a bit. Burleson has already proven that he is extremely effective running after the catch, but he doesn't have the overall speed to stretch the field like Moss used to. I am certain they are trying to get someone who can spread out a defense vertically.

Hmmm...maybe they are working out a deal with the Dolphins for Surtain, a trade up, and maybe one of the Vikings backs?

if we get surtain it would be pretty good but if we can't get him or edwards or williams how about rolle at #7 heh and round 3 or 4 get a WR

You have to worry about Chicago and Tennessee currently ahead of the Vikings if Edwards is on the radar screen. Its hard to tell what Chicago is thinking after the Muhammed acquisition. I wouldn't discount the Chargers making a deal with Cleveland or someone to jump up there and grab him though.

The biggest thing I'd worry about is the Vikings's personnel getting their pick in on time. [IMG]

Well they took Williamson with the pick and I though it was stupid. Williams was the best wideout in the draft and this wouldn't be an argument if he was allowed to play. He was training like crazy for the draft and it's not like he forgot how to play football in a year.
