Believe it or not, i've never been involved in any sort of fantasty sports league before. All my friends and practically everyone I know is in a fantasy league and I feel left out. I want to get involved in fantasy basketball (and baseball) because I feel like it will add a whole new dimension to the game for me, but where do I even begin to start? Is there some beginners guide to fantasy sports or something I can read to learn more about it? Thanks and any advice is appreciated .
I don't know of any beginner guides but any questions you have you can surely ask us all. Sign up for a Yahoo-Public League and just mess around with it. When you sign up, your team will be registered for a 10 or 12 man league (default). You can choose to do a auto-draft in which prerankings of players will be used by the computer to pick your players or a live-draft in which you pick a time and day and draft your players with other team managers within Yahoo. Picking players requires some strategy and of course understanding of basketball (which I'm sure you have). Just try to draft players for categories like FG%, 3 pointers, assists, rebounds, turnovers, points, blocks, steals, FT. If you want a ranking of players, yahoo has a BigBoard for Basketball, about.com has a decent list of players, NBA.com's fantasy games has a detailed ranking, and others. Hope this helps.
Well, if your getting into fantasy basketball try to get players that do a little of everything like Shawn Marion, Andrei Kirilenko or someone along those lines and get people that arent stacked in one category and stink up the rest Theo Ratliff and blocks. If you playing by FG% in your fantasy league remember not to choose guys that have teams dependant on them as there 1st 2nd and 3rd scoring option like RJ and Kobe. Well thats all I remember for now but I'll add stuff as I remember.
