I think that Stern hates Artest which is evident in him getting a longer suspension that Jackson. Jackson was looking for a fight, Artest was not.

    Anyways, well deserved for Artest/Jackson.</div>

I agree with your JO arguement, which leads me to believe he will appeal and get it cut down. The fan shouldnt be on the court..he deserved to get checked like that, he had it coming. What kind of idiot goes down on the court when there is a huge brawl? Jackson, I dont know. He was hot before it all errupted and his emotions carried him over, I think he will get his suspension cut down too, but then again it could very well stay where it is. He was backing up his teammate, thats his arguement and I think he could make a strong one for it.

True. It'll still be interesting to see how the Pacer crowd reacts to the Pistons. And we still got Shaq-Kobe. [IMG]

That is also a good point BUT..Artest is the one originially who went charging into the stands. That itself merits a 5+ game suspension. He was involved in the initial incident that caused the mess (the foul) and he was baiting the Wallace to go after him, he swung at a couple of fans, I could see his suspension going down a couple of games but knowing his past problems, I think Stern is trying to get a point across to Artest.

Wow that is what you get for attacking fans. I think the Pacers won't make the playoffs without their three stars. *Picks up Fred Jones in Fantasy Basketball league*

Nope, trust me. Kobe will do something like cut his hand while making a bagel. Or someone will step on Shaq's big toe ending his career because he's not man enough to play through it [IMG] .

That's the kind of luck we have as fans.

30 days is extremely weak. It should have been longer. In fact, this actually gives Ron Artest exactly what he wanted, a short break from the regular season so he can focus on his music career.

Even If they appeal they won't get the games cut down, the NBA is making a statement to these players and to show them to follow the rules they set. Pistons v Pacers won't be great to watch, blowout city.

HOW WAS THAT BAITING! If talking to the radio is baiting, then the radio people are at fault for allowing him too. He was trying to avoid fighting. He didn't need to bait anybody because he had a fight which he chose not to take.

I don't really understand why NBA fans WANT Artest to be punished even more. It's not going to make any difference at this point if he gets suspended 20 games, 30 games, or a 100 games.

He's a great player, he makes the Pacers a great team, and it makes the NBA more entertaining when he's on the court. As a fan, I want to see the Pacers and the Pistons at full strength as soon as possible. The league did what they had to do, but I don't desire the punishment to be any longer. I just don't get why anyone would want that.

If Artest, Jo and Jackson get charged for assault they could miss the whole season anyway, mainly Artest.

The League blew Thanksgiving and Christmas day TV ratings. The only good game on thursday was Pacers-Timberwolves and Stern took that from me and all basketball fans. Now he ruined Christmas. The Grinch who stole Christmas is named David Stern.

It's like when they give a murderer a double life sentence. Obviously they wont live that long, but it is done to prove a point, as a technicality.

Not saying that I agree or disagree.

David Stern didn't force Artest to act the way he did.

If the NBA really wanted to prevent stuff like that from happening again, they'd do the following:

    - Ban alcohol from games
    - Get rid of court-side seats
    - Make team double security at games.

But that would hurt league revenues, so they'd never do that. Instead, they decide to punish the players (boosting their revenues in the process by collecting the fines), and it really won't accomplish much as far as making games more secure.

Thats kinda unfair because Artest was just sitting on the scorers bench and Jackson was looking for a fight. I think that it should be the other way around. Well I guess thats one way of making shure that this won't happen again

It's was stated on a radio station, we will find out tomorrow when the NBA releases a press release..If this report is false then the thread will be locked. But the suspensions do seem about right.
