I'm wondering if the Pacers will trade Artest for someone that can still play.

If that's not it; I wonder what it would be. 40 games....

whether thats the real thing or not, it seems fair enough for artest, jackson, and wallace but i think JO should only get about a 10 game suspension cause he didnt do much except for that one punch.

^^ He also had another punch that wasn't caught on tape but a police officer saw it as JO was going through the tunnel.

Good artest is gone. The guy brings down the league to his thug level. His lying on the table was his whole intention, telling ppl that no one can gget to him and he's the grand master of pissing people off. GG to the fan that chuck the bottle at artest. GO BACK TO YOUR GHETTO AND GET SHOT ARTEST.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting durvasa:</div><div class="quote_post">If the NBA really wanted to prevent stuff like that from happening again, they'd do the following:

    - <u>Ban alcohol from games</u>
    - Get rid of court-side seats
    - Make team double security at games.

But that would hurt league revenues, so they'd never do that. Instead, they decide to punish the players (boosting their revenues in the process by collecting the fines), and it really won't accomplish much as far as making games more secure.</div>

We should take a page from Portugal's sporting event crowd control methodology .

Whatever the length of the suspensions, they're going to be debateable. Ron Artest can say he was just reacting after been assaulted, Jackson and O'Neal can say they we're just helping out a team member in need. Ben Wallace can argue that despite coping a lot of blame for this, all he did was react to a foul and shove Artest not start a brawl in the crowd.
I think the NBA has got the suspensions right if this happens though. This sort of thing should never happen and will be a good lesson to all NBA players not to get involved in altercations with the fans.

Pistons fans have no class. This wouldn't have happened if some idiot hadn't thrown a cup at Artest. What the hell were Piston fans doing on the court? That's why they got dealt with.

I say 5 games each for Artest, Wallace, Jackson and O'Neal; no fines.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting deception:</div><div class="quote_post">here's an article of particular pertinence written by an academic at the institute for society and sport at northwestern university:
    http://www.sportinsociety.org/rel-article13.pdf

and btw, i'm well versed in the bigoted dispositions towards blacks that many cuban exiles posses . bautista, your glorified dictator was a notorious bigot, segregating the blacks away from the city but that all changed with the revolution. god bless castro for that. a friend of mine once told me that most exiles don't have any grievances with the communists, just with the blacks that flooded havana after the revolution.</div>

    1. I'm half black. Put that on your pipe and smoke it.

    2. The name was "Batista", he was himself a mulatto and was discriminated against even when he was president, most famously having been denied admission at an exclusive private club in Havana. He was deposed in 1959, way before I was born, so the dictator I grew up with was your beloved Castro. By the way, if you like him so much, why don't you go over there to live. If you are black, perhaps you'll love how almost no one in his inner circle or among the many ministers, generals and party honchos are black. It'll give you an excuse to keep up with your victim attitude.

    3. Not even you believe all that nonsense about exiles not having grievances w/ communists. If you are so well versed on the bigoted dispositions among cuban exiles, you no doubt know about that the animosity runs both ways and that blacks in Miami are very prejudiced against Hispanics (and even Haitians). People like you love to fuel the fire for whatever reason. You don't even know me and just because I'm Cuban you pull that racist crap.

Oh and that article you linked? That's not "academic research". That's an opinion article. There's a difference. All the information in it is anneccdotal - what have journalists asked the author after crimes committed by athletes, an informal poll, etc. No scientific surveys, no methodology, no hard data, no verification, nothing. Maybe you didn't understand so I'm asking you again: What academic studies were you referring to before?

NOt to start an arguement, but if Wade did something similar, would you want him suspended for 70 days?

Well, here's something Fox Sports just posted up...

    <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Ron Artest for 30 games.
Jermaine O'Neal and Stephen Jackson 20-games
    Ben Wallace 5

Isn't 30 games a bit too much. The NBA's not the same without Artest and his eccentricities and Jermaine with his cute baby face.

This is bullshit. Ben Wallace definitely deserves more for instigating the whole thing. I feel he deserves whatever amount Ron Artest got.

"People are putting all the burden on Artest, and I don't think that's fair," Houston coach Jeff Van Gundy said. "He's an easy target because of all the things he's been through. But some fans have gotten to a point where they think they can do or say anything."</div>

Lmao at bagel...maybe since Artest is out for a while, he can make a v.2 of his album..[IMG]

If its true that Oneal and Jackson will be out for 20 games, could they be back by Christmas day? Are there 20 games between now and then?

Edit: Look at the schedule, it looks like they won't be back. But the good news is that January 27th they should all be back for a game in Indiana. And it will be on TNT. [IMG]

The March 25th game in Detroit will not be nationally televised.

Players have been suspended for 60 games for much lesser offensese. I can't believe he only got 30, the league needs to look this up more.
