This situation actually works out for Artest. He gets the time off that he initially wanted, so now he can relax or better yet, do some more promoting. And this brawl will also increase his street cred and in turn, do wonders for his rapping career. Just look what happened to 50 Cent's career after he got shot in the face. So taking on a group of angry Piston fans could amount to millions of records being sold for good old Ronny. :bigthumbu

  No smoking in the closed arena... you want to turn it into a foggy London? Good idea though, Rasheed will especially love this news, although I think he's quit.

Though I hate to say this, Wallace should be suspended more than 5 games. He was the cause of all this, HE started the fight with Ron-Ron, it was by HIM(well and a loss) that the crowd was fired up and started throwing things to the Pacers. BTW, did you guys saw Artest back down from Big Ben? You could see the fear in his eyes [IMG] That was sick, seeing a 'real thug' like Artest thinking about his life. Maybe, there was something good about this after all.

wallace should have been suspended more games. he started it. obviously, artest was trying to hold back, or he would have fought back at wallace. the fans were fired up because of what wallace did, and artest wouldn't have attacked that stupid fan if he didn't throw something at him. this is screwed up. the fan should be banned from all nba games, and wallace should be suspended for as long as artest and co. is.

and no beer in games, it makes people act crazy. especially if their team is losing.

    Brawl Suspensions!

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">However, Ben Maller and Chris Landry of Fox Sports Radio have learned from Pistons play-by-play man Fred McLeod that the NBA plans to suspend Artest for 30 games.

Additionally, Fox Sports Radio reports O'Neal and Jackson will both get 20-game suspensions. Wallace, on the other hand, will miss just five games.

    </div>

    Link (Fox Sports)

League comes down harsh on Artest! I think David Stern has had it with giving out these suspensions to Artest. The suspensions are about right, I think O'Neal should have just missed 10-15 because he didn't go into the crowd. Freddy Jones should have gotton one (2 games) for going into the crowd. Your thoughts on the suspension?

Well the Pacers have to suffer 40 game without their two top scorers. O`Neal and Jackson won`t be back until 2/16/05 against Portland. The All-Star game is on 2/20/05 so I wonder if O`Neal and Jackson will be taken off the ballot...

There were players on both sides who went into the crowd just to try and pull players out of there.

I don't know how O'Neal has gotten as big a suspension as Jackson, though. Both punched fans, the difference is one went into the crowd to do it. I would have given JO 15 and Jackson 30.

Yeah O`Neal should of got like 15 because the most harm he did was give a KO to the Piston fan. He didn`t go into the stands. Now Fred Jones threatned fans with the broom sweeper thing, shouldn`t he get a longer suspension?

well fred jones, sheed and david harrison went into the crowd to pacify the melee. in fact, jones got pummeled by a much larger fan for his effort.

Wow that's really going to hurt the Pacers record. Their coming down harsh on Artest when his actions were'nt that bad. The disgraceful actions were from the fans.

O'Neal and Jackson should have only got suspended for 5-10 games. The reason they didn't suspend Wallace for more was because he didn't go into the stands. I still think their coming down to hard on O'Neal, Artsest and Jackson.

the league giving artest 30 game suspensions is unfair. it wasnt entirely his fault. it is clear that the league is attempting to please its consumers by giving the pacers a huge loss. Stern is so pitiful

I read an article today stating that Artest could be sentenced up to 4 years in jail If Convicted of assult. So suspending him for 30 games is not nearly enough.

Basically Jermaine O'Neal, Ron Artest and Stephen Jackson are all facing lawsuits.

[IMG] Now,that was funny! About those 4 years though, I don't see it happen. Artest can make a case that he was attacked(okay beer and popcorn isn't that convincing but still) and that he was challenged by fans who wouldn't let him off the court.I don't think those fans would be that stupid to accuse Artest, lose, and then being accused by Artest. Then again, that would be hilarious.

Nah, he tried to keep Artest and J.O. from going at the fans. The NBA probably won't punish him.But with D-Stern you never know.

Yeah, could be. Then again, when Rodman went after all those loose balls in the stands, he should've been fined each 10 games or so. I guess the NBA first looks at the circumstances.
