Injury Report

Charlotte Bobcats
Bernard Robinson
Tamar Slay
Theron Smith

Detroit Pistons
Ronald Dupree
Carlos Delfino
Horace Jenkins
Ben Wallace (Suspended by the league)

Keys to the Game

Charlotte Bobcats:

[*]Get Okafor and Wallace going early, try and draw some fouls
[*]Guard Billups, Hamilton, and Rasheed . All are good on the perimeter, except Rasheed will be best used to try to stay inside.
[*]Spread the ball around and attack the Pistons frontline. With Ben Wallace missing there is less reason to settle for jump shots
[*]Rebound the ball and don't let the Pistons get many 2nd chance points.
Detroit Pistons:

[*]Detroit will have to play the perimeter so that the Bobcats don't have open looks. Basically make It as hard as possible for them to score.
[*]pressure Okafor and don't let him have anything easy inside, he is only shooting 39% from the field in his first NBA season so anything easy for him will make him gain confidence
[*]Get good production from Hamilton and Billups. Pistons are very hard to beat when they both have great games because they are Detroit's main offensive threats
[*] Pistons need Antonio Mcdyess to come to play and be effective in the post, considering he will be the starter for the next 5 games while Ben Wallace is suspended he will need to produce.
Final Thoughts and Prediction

Overall even without Ben Wallace this should be an easy win for the Pistons, although even though the Bobcats are not a good team the Pistons still need to show strong enough effort on the defensive end for the whole 38 minutes, the main reason they lost the game to Indiana was due to the poor defense for the first two quarters, once they picked up their defense they got back into the game. Had they shown full effort on friday they likely could of won that game. I expect the Pistons to come out strong and win the game by 15-18 points but the way they are defending you never know what Pistons team will show up.

I agree. Pistons should win this if they don't come too confident and take it easy with these guys. Despite their record, the Bobcats play hard every night with tough teams losing by 5 and such. Rasheed will probably take over as he always does.

Pistons take the game in double overtime, yes they were taken into double OT by the Bobcats. Rasheed Wallace saved the day yet in the 4th with two threes to send It into OT, then in OT Sheed and Dice both fouled out and Tayshaun Prince hit the game winning dunk , although the real winners were the Bobcats. Even without Billups, Campbell and Ben they still should of won the game easily yet struggled the whole way and really should of lost. Mental mistakes by the Bobcats cost them big time, their choking abilty is right up there. Missed three-throws really hurt them late in the game.

Even though at the end of the day It still counts as a W, the only bright spot in this game was

Antonio Mcdyess-24 points 9/14 shooting 13 rebounds and 2 steals.

When was the last time Mcdyess put up those kind of numbers? 2000/2001?

Luckily Chauncey is back for the re-match on tuesday

BTW Rip going 20/20 from the line? That has to be some kind of Pistons record.

Entertaining game. I was scared though, what would happen if the Pistons lost to the Bobcats. Definately would have been a sad moment.

We should have been able to win the game with a more comfortable margin, but any team can win on any night. If that wasn't true, then nobody would root for the underdog.

We should be able to destroy them Tuesday night though, their shooters will not have such great nights again. We will also have Billups and our depth back.

I wonder how they game got so close. Even w/o Wallace Detroit is still an elite team. This season is just full of surprises isn't it?

anyways, what a finish by Tayshaun!!

yeah, the Pistons shouldn't have been in this position in the first place, but the dunk made up for it [IMG]

i was sort of hoping Darko would have a chance to make a game winning shot :P

i'm just glad there's a distraction from the piston/pacer fiasco.

remember they were missing Chauncey too. guys who usually don't get PT (Smush and Darko) logged minutes.

i agree about this season being full of surprises. although, i can't imagine anything topping the events of the past few days [IMG]

Good finish though. My friend called me when they put Darko in and we were joking around "Give him the damn ball, don't you know he is M V P!"

Of course, when Tay got the dunk, we went crazy and were like wow!

Come on Shapecity, I think we all know that it was the Pacers that got what they deserved. The NBA management sure agrees with that, worst Pistons suspension was 6 games, compared to 72 for the Pacers.

Only thing that I wanted though, is for one of the fans that Artest attacked to know some form of self defense (Say Systema or something of that form) and promptly dropped Artest on his ass. That would have been great. Especially since Artest attacked the guy that didn't even throw the drink.

Edit: Somebody make a wallpaper of Tayshaun with that pic. I would def use it!

Actually no one can agree because this was the first time something got this out of hand, so we cannot speculate what the Pacers did or did not deserve, it's just a matter of opinion.

If NBA Management agree, the NBA Player's Union, which is part of that management team wouldn't file an appeal.

P.S. That dunk by Prince was SICK! Welcome to the league rookie.

IT's nearly a miracle we won, I can't believe Sheed hit those threes, and obviously Tayshaun Prince is the man, I knew once he got the ball out top like that and only had only player around him it was over.

I hate how Larry Brown always gives the other team the last shot tho. I always think the Pistons should get the last shot in these situations. You don't want to give a guy the opertunity to hit a game winner.

He means Okafor, who got dunked on. Tay is the one that said "Welcome to the league, rookie!"

BTW, Shape, you know that I have a very biased opinion as a Detroit fan. Detroit people think the Pacers got what they deserved, they attacked the fans, that is unbelievable. Outsiders obviously will think that the punishment is either one sided or too strict, although, again, I believe that it was perfect.

Oh, and the NBA Player's Union would file an appeal for everything, it is their job. Especially when one of the players loses their salary for the whole year and two others lose over 1/3 of their salaries.
