I thought I would start a thread on this because there is enough going on with a potential trade here...if you guys here ANY news whatsoever, can you post it here?

Here is what I have learned so far...the Dolphins are willing to trade Surtain but want draft picks. The Vikings want Surtain and have two first rounders. In addition, the Dolphins are interested in Onterrio Smith (why they want another pothead is beyond me). Based off that, I can see the following scenarios occuring...

A simple trade: 18th pick for Surtain
A bigger trade: 18th pick, a 7th rounder and O. Smith for the #2 spot (where the Vikings can draft Edwards) and Surtain

Alternatively, the Vikings may keep the 18th pick and 7th rounder, and simply trade their 7th pick and O. Smith for the 2nd pick and Surtain.

I think the Vikings are very interested in Braylon Edwards but know he will probably be gone by #7. However, with Burress seeking the Vikings, that might complicate things. Any news or thoughts on this?

I haven't seen anything, but I don't think both can be that realistic.

If the 18th for Surtain is realistic, then the rest cannot be. Unless I am brainfried at the end of a long week (which is true), then that is Ontarrio and a 7 for the #2 pick?

it wont be Ontario and $#7 for Surtain and #2, no way a team values Smith more than Surtain....I read in the herald that the Vikings dont want to trade #18 overall for hi, either....i think a swap of 1sts could facilitate it, #2 overall and Surtain for #7, #18, and Smith....that could get done....

There are a lot of teams that have joined the fray now....Kc, Min, Oak, SD, Sea have all had serious discussion....I dont expect this to get done until Rolle and maybe Law are off the market, but once that happens, thsi will pick up....Im hearing 2nd round is the best they will do, but with such a premium on CBs and with all the teams talking about how bad this drat is, I wont be suprised if a mid-late 1st rounder is eventually offered....

Surtain has made it very clear that he will not play for a team that plays in a cold weather climate. So he wont be coming to Minnesota.

Detroit is a dome and Minnesota is a dome. Seems to me that only leaves 1 game at GB and 1 game at Chicago that would be guaranteed to be cold. One or both may not even be that cold. They will play other divisions that will be cold games, but you can say that for any teams in the league.

That certainly limits the teams he can go to. Obviously, he isn't crazy about leaving.

It doenst get too cold in the Metrodome....I read today that a deal will happen sooner rather than later....he suggested that several teams have spoken to Surtains agent and were happy with the contract situation Surtain wants....that just leaves it to the team to work out the deal....with several teams showing serious interest and having worked out basic contract parameters, the price the Dolphins are seeking is rising as we speak....I think they will trade him this week and they will get a little more than most speculate....
