Has anyone else ever noticed Chris Berman's anti proffesional basketball quotes or his repeated little side comments about the NBA? There was a time when baseball season was just getting started and he said something along the lines of "Do you know what today means? It means we finally have a real pro sports league to talk about now since the Super Bowl!" Its the only league that he doesn't cover with any regularity. I bring it up because tonight on sportscenter, he was doing his little top ten lislt and he started it off with saying something along the lines of "This week has been a week to forget in sports with the last weeks Pitsburgh fight, The Clemson fight and even the fight in the NBA between Detriot and Indiana. Thats why THAT league is rarely in the top ten". Yeah, I'm sure the reason why you don't put the nba in the top ten is because for the last couple of decades that you have been on ESPN, you've just been tired of the weekly NBA Player vs Fan fights?! What ever. Has anybody else ever noticed his anti basketball rhetoric?
I've never noticed his anti basketball sentiment, but I wouldn't be surprised. A lot of sports journalists have their favorite sports to cover and take shots at sports they don't enjoy covering. I think we see most of it directed at the NHL. I'll definitely pay closer attention to what the Swami has to say about the NBA.
Swami doesn't really care for Pro Basketball and to be frank, he doesn't really need to. ESPN doesn't pay him to cover basketball. He does take some vieled shots, but they're as much for entertainment value as anything, IMO. I've never taken offense to anything he's said. It's as much lockerroom humor as anything.
Chris Berman is first and foremost an NFL reporter(and probably a really Big fan).Look at the way he talks and talks about the NFL.Granted he covers the NFL like There's no tommrow, and he has done some Baseball stories and games before. I've never really seen or heard him stating anything to concur that he hates Basketball or even likes it,but i wouldn't be suprised if he did so.as Shapecity say's a lot of journalist's have their favorite sports they cover. To be honest here,it really doesn't matter if he loves Basketball or Hates it.Hagrid has said that he's not payed to cover Basketball,Football. It doesn't matter really, but why would we care one way or the other if he likes this sport or not?...I sure don't
When did short and fat guys get in the NBA? Let's see here...nope! None! How many short-fat guys are there in the NFL...hmm...some! How many in the MLB? Uh...lots! Ahh! Now I see why he hates basketball!
Chris is a great anylist and personality, unlike Stuart Scott. Stuart Scott annoys me so bad. I think he knows nothing about any sport. He's just there to be the "Hip" guy. Seriously, as a guy who lives in Philly, which is yes, more urban and "hip" than Bristol, nobody calls old white football coaches "Dawg" that I know of. He is so unprofessional, i get embarassed. One night he was doing highlights for a knicks game, and for no apparrent reason, he starts quoting Malcolm X ("We've been bamboozled, We didn't land on Plymouth Rock, Plymouth Rock landed on us") What that has to do with a Knicks game. No offense to those who like him, but Stuart Scott to me is the equivelent of Chris Berman acting black. Stuart says stuff wiggers say. I like Chris, and yes, i get that he's not that interested in Basketball, but he's such a good Football guy and a great baseball guy too. Usually ESPN people are only good at one thing. Mike Hill: Basketball (Not the lame one who won dream job) Cindy Brunson: Football. I think Salisbury is a good all around guy. I've seen him kick knowledge about all of the main sports (not including hockey. I said MAIN sports) Oh, BTW I also hate Merril Hoge. Cancer or not he is an idiot. He hates (with devil horns on the word hates) Philly. He acts like he got robbed there or something. He said the Eagles wouldn't get into the playoffs! OOPS, there i go trailing off again, sorry. Anyhoo, Chris Berman is a great announcer, watch NFL primetime on sunday's. He's hilarious.
^^You got to admit though, Stuart is sometimes pretty funny. Anybody watch I love the 70`s, 80`s, 90`s? He was pretty funny on that. Now he does get annoying sometimes, like saying stuff like "HOLLA AT JA BOY" but it`s all good laughs in the end. As for Berman, I have never heard him saying anything about basketball. So I guess he is <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">a football nut.</div>
Okay, I know there are people that like Stuart, I don't find him funny, but i'll cut you some slack. But you have to concur that Mike Hall, and Merril Hoge are annoying, and retarded. Bring Back rich Eisen, he's hilarious. Stuart was kinds funny in i love teh..... But Eisen was funnier. They should make basketball players work at Sportcenter. Look at football players. Ron Jaworski Is on ESPN on a regular basis (Damn, he looks different.) So is Mike Golic Mark Schlereth, and that f*ckbag Merril Hoge. Let NBA players in on it. Artest should work there. He has nothing else to do. How about Rodman? huh? i'd never leave the couch.
I always saw Berman as a baseball guy (moreso then football)...He's entertaining, and I enjoy watching him. I haven't noticed any anti-basketball sentiments, but u know, whatever floats his bloat. I don't expect every sports figure to enjoy every sport out there. That would be unreasonable..
Yeah, but I think Berman goes out of his way to diss basketball. Today on his top 10, he had women's college soccer and UHL highlights but not one NBA highlight. I mean, c'mon...

I wouldn't call what Berman does analyzing unless you consider "that team is amazing" and "what a classy guy" analyzation.

The most unbiased commentator I have ever heard is Chuck Swirsky. He's always throwing in tidbits and mentioning other sports like football, hockey or baseball. No haterade for him.

The NHL and NBA seasons coincide on almost identical schedules, so that comment he made applies to both the NBA and NHL and Swami absolutely loves hockey, and he covers no hockey whatsoever for ESPN. I think you're overanalyzing this and looking into it too much.
