Next thing we know people will be comparing Artest to the Oklahoma bomber, and 9/11 terrorists. You guys are silly. Compare Kermit Washington to Spree, but not Artest.

Even if you disagree with the argument that Artest acted out of self-defense, it's more valid in Artest's case than it is in Washington's. Besides, how can you compare fans to a coach? Player's aren't expected to respect fans (especially after the crap that fans give them). Players are however, expected to respect their coach.

To compare punching fans to someone who punched and almost killed an NBA coach is totally off base.

Well, actually, Kermit Washington punched a player, not a coach ... Rudy T was only a player at the time. In addition, you can make a sound arguement that Kermit Washington punched him in self defense. If you've seen the incident, Washington gets into a fight with another Rocket...Rudy T ran up (from behind) to break up the fight, and Washington turned around and just saw Rudy "charging at him" and reacted with a punch. Obviously, this isn't condoining what Washington did, but I could see his side of the story.

Thanks for the correction. Still I think you missed my point, as I am not actually trying to justify what Washington did. I'm just saying don't compare him to Artest.

I got your point....what I was saying was that Kermit Washington has more of an argument of self-defense than Artest did IMO. A cup being thrown at you versus a person seemingly charging at you...
