I doubt his effectiveness in our system. Barry is a bad defender, and at 6-6 remains a liability if he plays the point guard spot full-time. Besides, Barry lacks the passing skills to really be effective, and also has never played with a big man like Yao, which would only make his fitting-in process longer and more tedious. Barry wouldn't have made more of an impact than Ward did.

Cant agree with that, IMO, he is exactly what we need. One of BArry's under-rated skills is his passing in the open court, as well as making entry passes. He can hit the 3 ball with ease, and is always reliable down the stretch. We did what we could to sign him, apparently giving him a 4 year, 22-24 million dollar deal. But he opted to go with the Spurs.. I think. I don't think he'd have to fit in. BArry is one of those guys that can assert himself in a game, as well as an entire offense. As a 6th man for San Antonio, he knows his role, but also knows how to take over the game (in terms of him asserting himself .. not scoring 50). We have the same type of player in JJ. Can sit back, and do the little things, or help your team, by leading them in assists, points, or rebounds.

I think ANYONE can fit better than Charlie Ward, but that's just because I have never liked him. Barrett should start. The impact he had on that one game was amazing. I know I can't judge a guy in one game, but I mean, this guy wasn't gonna get a game at all had Charlie Ward been healthy. He is all hustle, and can hit the open J. He's young, quick, a pick-pocketer waiting to happen. The thing is he's 5'10, but I think that's why we should put Sura at the point to. But if Barrett is starting over Sura, that might be questioned.. alot. Just my 2 cents.

It was just one game, you need to let him play alot more times before you can even consider starting him. Like you said, he's young, quick, and a pick pocketer waiting to happen... I think that would fit more as a bench player. He would add a different kind of play to the game- a running, quick, and energized kind of strategy. Barrett would probably complement well with perhaps Lue at shooting guard and Nachbar at small forward.

Nothing happened to Ward, I'm guessing JVG's just experimenting with new lineups and bench players.
