The KG story is pretty touching. I hope all NBA players are like that and not as hot headed and thuggish as some other ppl. KG to me is a real role model and a man

Definitely. He had to become the breadwinner; the 'real' man of the house. I admire him; so talented and he's got it all yet he gives back. Its class acts like him that make it worthwhile to pursue becoming a success. As always the thought counts; but it actually happening is always so great.

I was very touched and pleased to read this. Its one of the first things I've seen now since coming back to JBB. Here's me raising my glass and hoping to see more articles like these in the near future.

I love what all of these guys did. But if there is one player would do some of these things MINUS the media, then that is just saint-like.

I remember reading in the Bible. WHen you give and you let people know about it, then you already got your prize here on earth and you won't be rewarded in heaven.

I agree. I don't see Allen Iverson as a class act in the least after all the trouble he's gotten in. He's far from a class act. A lot of franchises require some kind of charity work from their players. A lot of players also do it just to improve their public image. It's special when a few players give back to the community, but only when they do it for the right reasons. A player who I can think of who never gets publicity for his charity work but has been donating millions to various organizations throughout Memphis has been Shane Battier. He is what a real class act is.

It is good to see that there are still a few good guys left in the NBA. Don't forget that David Robinson created the Carver Acadamy in SA, and all the technology that Shaq gave to some inner city schools throughout LA. I think I even remember hearing something about Rodman paying for a man's funeral because his family couldn't afford it.

The media outlets should focus a little more on stories like the ones mentioned within this thread rather than the stupid things that a minority of players do.

You don't have to be a thug to be tough. KG is far from being a thug, but if you say he isn't tough I'll laugh at you. Don't cite the time he got hit by AP and he didn't react, that was in game six of a playoff series where he knew that he couldn't afford to get suspended in. If that had been a regular season game, Peeler would have never gotten away with that. KG does not back down from people, he backs his teammates up, and he doesn't like opponents get away with pulling stupid shit like trash talking when they aren't that good (like Corey Maggette and Q-Rich last year hahaha. Punks got schooled at the end of the game)

But he doesn't go looking for fights, and he doesn't not think like a lot of the "tough guys" in the NBA today. "it needs a little more toughness, you know its getting soft when you have people like you guys in this thread going "awwww its so sweet"" what a fascist attitude towards sports. Grow up, or go act your version of tough in the streets and get shot, arrested, or have the crap beaten out of you.

Yeah I think RJ should be tough, and not give charity to sick people who dont have it like most people do.If he doesnt give to charity this will some how make him more competitive for rivalries.

So RJ, stop helping little sick kids across america, your making NBA fans soft! [IMG]
